What a remarkable story. Thankfully he made it home, but how sad that he died from the result of people trying and helping to save him. So much bravery amid the horrors of that time. I hope he lived life to the full once he helped smash fascism.

Don't think he was in danger, so probably on the prowl for a peahen! Or is it the wrong season for that? Or maybe he's expanding his territory, thinking 'this backyard can't hold me, I'm off to see the world!' Probably back home in time for supper, though. Men don't like to miss their supper.😉
