You can. I have a pair of good scissors that will cut leather but scissors arent that easy to sharpen so i mostly use a utility knife with disposable blades. One day I'll get a good re-sharpenable craft knife but they are expensive

Yeah theres different types. These are diamond chisels. You punch all the way through and then stitch through the holes. The 6 prong are good for making 6 holes in a straight line. The 2 and single prong are good for going around corners
