Every episode of Columbo includes a scene where he tells the killer that his wife is a huge fan of their music, acting, cooking, art, etc.

And then he arrests them for murder.

The whole show is all about Columbo destroying all the things his wife loves. Pure emotional terrorism.

One unremarked factor in the “return to office” discourse is that bosses made the actual offices the most miserable places you could possibly be. Even if you didn’t work in a factory they seemed to want you to feel like you did
