And I'm in red state suburbia, not like a stereotypical crunchy area.

Anyway, my point is "chemicals are bad" is dumb and while yes, some additives probably don't need to be there, and can cause harm, we need to actually have information on this and not just lie or paint it all with a broad brush.

Adding a reminder that if you take meds you should avoid activated charcoal because it can just remove it from your system. Especially psychiatric meds. Also watch for it at your fave local place because two different local cafes near me just casually have it on their drinks like it's fine.

Saw this Whole Foods bag my dad brought home and something stuck out to me among all its chemical fearmongering. It says activated charcoal on there. Oh what's that? I can buy activated charcoal from Whole Foods and have it delivered to my house today?

I feel compelled to remind everyone to not just take activated charcoal without making sure it doesn't affect your medications first. Especially if you're on psychiatric meds. I've seen it on the menu at more than one of my local cafes as a smoothie ingrdient, and I'm in suburbia. So be careful.
