No promises, but if @evoquant.bsky.social hosted a buttload of pre-computed antiSMASH v8 results would anyone be interested in paying for fast access to those (in traditional antiSMASH view)?

Probably subscription and a very small per-genome fee.

Can you think of a single movie in which there is a video from the government denouncing its political opponents playing on a loop in public spaces in which that government was the good guy?

A new Noem video is being played at airports trashing Democrats.

Over the weekend ICE abducted an NIH contractor when he showed up to a courthouse for his green card hearing. He is documented. His wife is a citizen.

He is also member of the skeleton crew of animal care staff that works through a shutdown, to ensure the health and wellbeing of research animals.

Billions of dollars have already been invested in work that was on the verge of life-saving breakthroughs. And for no good reason, that funding has been ended, and all that promising work-in-progress is callously being tossed away.

A year ago yesterday was a very happy day for me. I had lost my prostate. It was good riddance, as it was riddled with cancer. I’m now cancer-free — and thankful for the tax-funded technology that saved my life.

I'm at the scene where ICE abducted multiple people from Lincoln and Foster this morning.

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

We will continue to work hard on attracting outstanding economists from around the world to Zurich, including from the U.S., and on raising the resources needed to support them—especially during the current, special times in the international higher education landscape.

Perry: The federal government is "temporarily enjoined from ordering the federalization and deployment of the National Guard of the United States within Illinois."

That's it. Thanks again for following.

The presumption of regularity is dead, at least before serious district court judges. That's what happens when you constantly send half-qualified "lawyers" from the DOJ to lie in court

Perry: Four (4) federal judges have issued rulings in the past two (2) days in separate cases that cast significant doubt on federal officials' "credibility and assessment of what is happening on the streets of Chicago."

ICE is wreaking complete havoc on my lovely, peaceful neighborhood on the far north side of Chicago. Schools in panic mode, businesses closing. We are being terrorized by our own fucking government.

Pope Leo XIV has blasted how wealthy people live in a “bubble of comfort and luxury” while the poor suffer. In his first teaching document Thursday, Leo confirms that he is in perfect lockstep with Pope Francis on matters of social injustice.

Judge Perry says she will issue an oral ruling now and a formal ruling tomorrow.

Perry says the state's temporary restraining order against national guard deployment will be granted, "in part," with a fuller ruling to follow tomorrow.

We had more info about those deployed in CA.
Are they armed?
Armed with what?

U.S. Northern Command says that elements of the Texas national guard are now “employed in the greater Chicago area.”

The statement claims that they’ve been deployed to protect ICE and federal property.

I spent more than a decade at The Post. It was good to me and I was proud to work there. I’ve largely refrained from being critical since I left. But this framing of the special counsel probe is embarrassing and flatly wrong. Stunning, but not. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

This administration is flooding the zone so furiously that people have largely lost track of the lethal attacks on boats in the Caribbean, the gov’t shutdown, the economy, failed release of the Epstein files & so much else. It’s a tactic of would-be strongmen.

Setting aside the absurdly xenophobic framing, once again, there is ZERO truth to any of this. Everyone qualifies for Emergency Medicaid equally. Hospitals do not receive more for treating undocumented immigrants in an emergency than Americans. Speaker Johnson is flatly wrong.

Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."

That said, evaluating what they'll actually be able to do is secondary insofar as (1) this entire spectacle should be offensive on its own terms to anyone who values basic freedoms and (2) if they *could* do everything they repeatedly threaten, I have no doubt they *would.*
