Arrests the right has been calling unjust government overreach for 30+ years
Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber, being led out of his cabin by an FBI agent who looks like a rancher. No tactical gear, just a cowboy hat, and jeans.
. The surrender of Randy Weaver, who was Ashli Babbitt before Ashli Babbitt. In a black and white photo, Weaver is holding his infant daughter and flanked by an FBI agent and aⁿ Idaho state trooper whom he appears to be holding hands with, though maybe they’re cuffed to each other. They’re all wearing jeans, and there’s some uniformed officers behind them. There are two people in the foreground, both civilians, one of them in his teens. The FBI agent is arresting a literal terrorist with what appears to be a cell phone on his belt, and a button-down, not a bunch of body armor.

Weaver sold automatic rifles to Nazis, and also a federal agent. He was small fry, but he got most of his family killed by entering a standoff with the Feds—he told his middle school aged sons to fire on federal officers. For whatever reason (president was a democrat/they love Nazis), republicans thought that this was egregious government overreach, something they couldn’t claim about the idiot in Oregon because we all saw the video of him pointing a gun at cops, and heard the audio clearly. This was impossible for Babbitt because she was surrounded by a bunch of other screaming terrorists, allowing them to create their own fantastic narrative.

There are 2.5x as many people in the United States than in the 1960s, so even that seems like an odd comparison, and it’s completely ignoring the BLM and George Floyd protests, whether or not you want to include them in the civil rights movement overall.

That is such a ridiculous claim because even if there were metrics to support it, wth is the point of the statement? & this feels like another one of those things where the person making the argument probably hasn't read enough on the subject. The multi-facetedness of the CRM is a KEY characteristic

@aoc.bsky.social on the GOP shutdown: When one party wants the votes of another party, you negotiate and you pass a bill. That is Schoolhouse Rock, and that is how things should be.

The Antideficiency Act prohibits the US gov't from entering into a contract that is not "fully funded" because doing so would obligate the gov't in the absence of an appropriation adequate to the needs of the contract.

So what 47 is doing re. funding of his ballroom is against the law.

I’m not an expert, but are you supposed to *announce* the fact that you’re authorizing a covert CIA action?

It seems need-to-know to anyone outside the NSC, Intelligence Committees, and Gang of Eight until after the fact?

It’s a longer, more expensive to convince non-voters to register and make a plan to vote, especially if they’re being bombarded with misinformation.

They felt like a breath of fresh air because they got a lot of positive earned media coverage. Then it was back to the trump show, not self-sabotage.

Swing voters and centrists vote. Non-voters don’t. That’s why candidates try to appeal to swing voters and moderates.

No one was ever going to be perfect enough for the people loudly proclaiming that they aren’t voting—now protecting women’s rights is why, even though women ARE economic rights.

This guy was a clerk for Justice Gorsuch. Anyone want to argue this is not a racist (and damn stupid) taunt?

imo if your workplace culture is such that employees feel comfortable displaying swastikas in their cubicles then the swastika-displaying employee is somehow not actually the biggest problem
