My most liked posts have typos. My best posts don't get likes. I have a Ph D, you don't have to explain the two-party system to me.
So in other words people should have.... stayed woke. *sees self out*
A lot of the op-ed writers who influenced thought, votes, national media, culture wars & policy, snuffed out cultural movements like MeToo, Black Lives Matter, who gets taxed & who doesn’t, the list goes on… were just saying shit to cover their own tracks.

We got our asses completely handed to us.

I'm still forming this thought. But basically everyone has "these" kind of guys. But like the Black versions of these guys get big on social media, maybe make it to Breakfast Club. But there's also a lot of pushback.

White people take the White versions of these guys, & put them in charge of shit
It's super, super weird that these guys have about the same influence on what discourse happens on Twitter any given day than Walker Cronkite had on the American viewing public.
February 5, 2026 at 6:53 PM
@lfrpod.bsky.social I suspect this is already in the works but would love to hear the guys discuss how this trade seems to signal, or maybe even necessitates, a commitment to bigger line-ups down the stretch of the season here.

Yup and this part of the game should have become clear when people got so worked up about affirmative action that it got to the Supreme Court, while at the same time there was/is no vitriol for legacy admissions.
It's a white club, not a smart club, that's why they're so mad when non whites go there. Has zero to do with ability or skill. Ivy on the cv means you get a job because you're in the club not because you're good at what you do. I think we're seeing that shit on full display with the Files
I been trying to tell folk this about my time at Brown. Ivies got prestige because they were exclusive. Not because that was the cream of the damn crop. Lol

Once I get caught up on KO (hopefully by the end of the long weekend) my plan is to finish getting caught up on Absolute. Basically I was behind on the original three titles so I have a couple of issues of WW, half of Batman, & all of Absolute Superman to read.

From there I have this Krakoa omni...

Yup. And it is all done from a reductionist, political viewpoint. Left/minority/feminine coded programs? Bad, unprofitable, waste. Right/White/masculine coded programs? No worries. Invest. Expand.

It's so blatant but it's taboo to acknowledge the reality because you don't want to offend big wigs
It feels like it's been impossible to get people outside of higher ed to understand that eliminating staff/programs/majors is primarily an ideological project, whatever claims are made about finances.

What's happened at the Post is what's been happening in higher ed for ages.
February 5, 2026 at 6:10 PM
Yup. This is also the idea of "the sociological imagination". And it is tied to the origin of "identity politics" (another term co-opted and bastardized) as theorized by the Combahee River Collective. I guess I'm just thinking out loud about all of the tools we have to fight against these attacks.
This is an important point.

Empathy—in and of itself—is anti-fascist.

The arts—and the project of higher education as a whole—teach empathy, enabling you to put yourself in other people’s shoes.

So to a fascist, they must be destroyed.
The war on empathy and the war on the arts are part of the same project.

If we just started holding grown ass White men as accountable as we try to hold literal Black children we could fix like 60% of society's issues
Andrew Schulz and many of those podcast bros who platformed Trump seem incredibly uncomfortable being on the hook for it and it should follow them for he rest of their careers.

I love it
The Los Angeles Lakers are trading Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks for Luke Kennard, sources tell ESPN.

*sigh*
The Senate bill is rooted in the idea that we just need to get BP/ICE "back to" only terrorizing people we deem worthy of being terrorized, and not White people. The exact problematic understanding people have been trying to warn against... While a lot of White people insisted that concern was silly
February 5, 2026 at 3:26 PM
Funny how many otherwise loud people manage to act completely unaware as to how problematic substack is
no disrespect, but I'm not subscribing to your Substack for reasons that should be obvious if you google words like "substack" and "nazis"

Yes I will watch a 20 minute video essay about Animorphs. Don't you know how old I am?

I knew Brody King is with the activities but I missed this. Now I feel even better about spending on DWJ variants
How did I not know this? I didn't know AEW wrestler Brody King is doing a fundraiser for Mpls families affected by ICE. By selling variant comics covers. With comics artist Daniel Warren Johnson. Who is a fellow Chicagoan? And has raised $58K so far and is still going! headlockedcomic.bigcartel.com

I do appreciate the reminder as to why I had this person muted on the other app
"ICE guys are pretty miserable. I don’t think morale is particularly high for them. They’re freezing, they’re getting shouted at. They can’t go anywhere without being tailed by 5 cars. They get out and immediately there's a crowd of 100 people shouting at them, blowing whistles as loud as they can."
Inside the resistance with Will Stancil
"It's something I could do to keep them from stealing my neighbors."

Until we address the White Supremacy, sexism, and heteronormativity? ABSOLUTELY
I can't believe you're platforming Will Stancil over any of the actual hardworking activists.

We're just gonna keep feeding the beast of useless celebrity worship that birthed Trump until we're overrun with egomaniacs aren't we

No joy in having foresight. Can't even monetize this shit in 2026. But judging by the way the discourse was discoursing today... *taps sign*

In other words, if the clearly evil stuff that is happening right now is labeled as evil by sources like CNN, that would force too many White people to confront the idea that their parents/friends/religious leaders/etc. are actively supporting evil.

So instead as a nation we pretend.
Not gullibility, not exactly. Nor personal agreement.

A deep psychological need and professional incentive for normality, with both sides equal, where we share basic values but disagree about how.

Because if it really is this bad, good people would be biased against it, not neutral and “balanced.”
After Trump tells NBC News he could maybe use a "softer touch" on immigration, we immediately get the "different tone" narrative from CNN.

Brianna Keilar: "A change of tone for the president. Softer touch."

David Chalian: "He acknowledged learning something that this requires a softer touch."
February 5, 2026 at 1:32 AM
Victor is right and if you cringe at the assertion, just look at the crosstabs for any national election aggregated by education. The motivation is right there, it's just a matter of choosing to acknowledge/address the implications
The destruction of independent media outlets and the attempts to bring higher education to heel are part of a united authoritarian strategy designed to destroy checks on their propaganda.

I need to cull my list, maybe after these current events wrap
February 5, 2026 at 12:37 AM
Sure, but also because when we talk about this we dance around the fact that these igorant infulencers tend to be disproportionately rich White guys
one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

Because they agree with Trump. It's not capitulatory
This is what's so infuriating about the billionaires. Isn't part of the point of having that much money and power is that you have "fuck you money"? Meaning, if you don't want to do something, you say "fuck you" and don't do it. To anyone and everyone.

So why are they such capitulatory wimps now?
This and also ... he could afford to enrage Trump, have Trump weaponize the government against all of his businesses, etc. -- and he'd still have so much more money than he could ever spend in 10 lifetimes.

I'm about to pick this up but I can not for the life of me remember if I read #2 of this series...
"Batman/Static: Beyond #3 brings its heroes down to Earth, but also reminds readers that Virgil Hawkins and Terry McGinnis are more than their powers."
