Trump is badly losing the war over ICE, not just on the streets, but also in the culture. As Bad Bunny shows, this has become a culture war unto itself. Trump-MAGA's initial hubris has been utterly deflated.

FAMU can't use the word Black on anything posted around campus related to Black History Month, to stay in compliance with Florida state laws against DEI. Black students can't use the word Black at their Historically Black College during Black History Month.

The biggest giveaway for the "identity politics" game is the fact that in the U.S. pro-life/Evangelical organizing is never labeled "identity politics".
You see a similar dynamic where the *only* moderates or reactionary politicians people can name all just so happen to be Black, and they can only recognize appeals to Black people as “identity politics” while y’know finding a white fisherman is just smart politics etc

So, people say/do racist things and get a pass or get excused related to intent, understanding, etc. But, call what someone says/does racist and be forced to confirm what can’t be definitively confirmed even with overwhelming evidence because people are given the benefit of any and all excuses. /2

People keep asking where the “line” is, referring to the Trump tweet, and the answer is there isn’t one, partially because white people (including many liberals) created/accepted a reality where there is much more pushback for calling what someone does racist than actually doing something racist. /1

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”
What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

100%. The average American has no real conception of just how prominent/impactful gerrymandering is. My freshmen have no idea what it is. A national conversation on gerrymandering and maps is long overdue
on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.
