My most liked posts have typos. My best posts don't get likes. I have a Ph D, you don't have to explain the two-party system to me.
Because they agree with Trump. It's not capitulatory
This is what's so infuriating about the billionaires. Isn't part of the point of having that much money and power is that you have "fuck you money"? Meaning, if you don't want to do something, you say "fuck you" and don't do it. To anyone and everyone.

So why are they such capitulatory wimps now?
This and also ... he could afford to enrage Trump, have Trump weaponize the government against all of his businesses, etc. -- and he'd still have so much more money than he could ever spend in 10 lifetimes.

I'm about to pick this up but I can not for the life of me remember if I read #2 of this series...
"Batman/Static: Beyond #3 brings its heroes down to Earth, but also reminds readers that Virgil Hawkins and Terry McGinnis are more than their powers."

Read @cjwritesstuff.bsky.social's review:
‘Batman/Static: Beyond’ #3 brings its heroes down to Earth
It also reminds readers that Virgil Hawkins and Terry McGinnis are more than their powers.

Yup and this also explains the strategic targeting of certain majors within higher ed
This is true, but also leaves out one element, which is part of this goal is shifting the pathway to upper middle class more comprehensively to security/law enforcement/repression industries. Financial stability will require participation in infrastructure of oppression
I think it's best for everyone to understand that the unified class project of billionaires right now is to do to white collar workers what globalization and neoliberalism did to blue collar workers.

This story makes me so sad
Please speak up for Rodney. A year in an ICE camp is beyond comprehension.

Public pressure works.

If enough people speak up, a life may be saved.

Many of the deaths in ICE custody have been due to medical neglect… let’s make sure Rodney isn’t one of them.
Help Rodney Taylor, a Disabled Double Amputee Being Held by ICE
Rodney has been in the country more than 40 years. He's in solitary confinement in Georgia, being denied disability accommodations and having his medical needs ignored. He must be released.

You cooked
This dude Stancil has quickly revealed that he is to Minneapolis what Shaun King was to Ferguson
This is the stuff that marks someone as a danger.

Not even just that he intends to sneak back into an organizing space where he’s been told that he’s unwanted; the need to publicly brag about it, and make sure everyone knows.

You cannot do collaborative work with someone who only centers himself.

When White people want to talk about another White person with bigoted views, but want to dance around it, they call the person "political" or "controversial". It's interesting

!!!! People need to read this and internalize this
Not totally ignored because other people targeted tended to know. So did the black women who exposed YourSlipIsShowing. But come on, the dominant narrative always tried to boil it down into something unique to video games or abusing women

Yes! It goes to the sociology of conspiracy. Conspiracy theories fester when existing power doesn't/can't address real social concerns, which *gestures around*

But there's a difference between believing Pizzagate & COINTELPRO. The role that identity plays in what seems "realistic" is under-explored
It's hard to differentiate between Conspiracy Theories...and just, the concept of groups conspiring to do things.

I guess, what's the difference between wild conspiracy theories and legitimate conspiracies? Not too many steps, I suppose.

OP makes a good point here
I'm convinced one of the reasons epstein was able to coast for so long is that for many sensible people including and especially educated liberals, viewing the world through a conspiratorial lens was always seen as vaguely distasteful and rube-coded
February 3, 2026 at 7:27 PM
Confrontation = masculine coded. Fundraising = feminine coded (not saying I agree or that this is good). But this is literally all it is.
I don't understand how every Will Stancil fan has come to the same conclusion that the best thing to do with his "platform" is to chase ICE. We know ICE is up to no good, but a lot of unsexy work of raising funds needs to be done

The rare trade where both fan bases can be agitated? Impressive
February 3, 2026 at 6:50 PM
And this is also why treating these historical figures as mythical infallible beings instead of real, complicated people is inherently problematic. Doubly so for the fact that so many people instinctually feel a need to do this when the figure is from a traditionally marginalized group.
The successful nonviolence and civil rights movements of the past, as I’ve gathered from reading about them, ALSO featured a shit ton of incessant petty drama and in-fighting.

But crucially, they didn’t have social media - so this was kept far more private.

I just want everyone to listen to Kelly Hayes. This phenomenon she is describing is what I think of as the "A freshman male just read Marx for the first time is about to make sure you know about it" effect.
It's also not unique to this moment for people who are brand new to believe they have it all figured out, or for onlookers to believe the same. That part of the equation rhymes with a whole lot of history, and people who stick around long enough learn that they don't know what they don't know.

Why us lawyers need to remember that law is not the end goal, but a tool and part of our job is to try and use or change that tool to achieve more just ends.
Crime is a social construction. Helping slaves was criminal. In some states handing water to people standing in line to vote is a crime. For a long time a husband raping his wife was legal. If you define your morality based on the law, at the very best, you understand the world like a child does
I'm sorry, I'm lol'ing hard at "crime he disapproves of." As if some crimes are perfectly fine and okay.

Yeah, go ahead and set the city on fire. Just like Trump and Steven Miller want to see happen. Play right into their hands!

This is so stupid.
