National Security Concerns over The People's Republic of China (PRC)'s plan to establish a massive "super-embassy" at Royal Mint Court, Tower Hamlets, London EC3N 4AB - against the will of the local council, residents, and even the Metropolitan Police.
This isn't just about a new embassy - it's about protecting our communities and freedoms. The planned chinese embassy in London would become a centre for surveillance and intimidation, threatening not only exiled Chinese nationals but also the safety and values we all share.
The metropolitan police objected the scheme over fears that the site lacks space for protests, yet the government intends to approve it to appease an authoritarian regime. This will set a dangerous precedent by undermining free speech and the democratic values of this country. We must take a stand - our streets should not become tools of authoritarian control, especially to those oppressed by the Chinese Communist regime such as Hongkongers, Tibetans, Uyghurs and Taiwanese. We need to hold the government accountable by demanding that human rights and democracy come before diplomatic concessions.
