People are spontaneously posting up near any laborers or street vendors they spot. Just saw a rapid responder guarding a man working on a building exterior. Many things are terrible today but lord, this stuff matters.

There are a tremendous number of ICE watchers out in Rogers Park this afternoon after some early morning abductions.

People are guarding churches and patrolling alleyways. Ran into Alderperson Hadden. First timers tell us they're primed and ready to use their whistles.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by ICE in Everett and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

ICE left David, a 17-year-old boy, stranded on the side of Interstate 20 after pulling over his immigrant father, Hector, in Mississippi.

David began running in the scorching sun after the car and watched as it disappeared from sight—soon headed to a Louisiana ICE prison.

Here's their story.

Too often, young people who are unsafe at home end up entangled in the juvenile legal system, exposing them to more harm.

#InternationalDayOfTheGirl is a reminder that girls and gender expansive youth deserve systems that uplift rather than punish.

Employees of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services oversee lawful immigration applications. They've never been authorized to make arrests, carry firearms, or execute search warrants — until now.

This intimidation tactic is unnecessary and cruel.
How is Trump Weaponizing USCIS for the First Time?
USCIS once managed legal immigration. Now, Trump is weaponizing the agency—turning America’s immigration system into a deportation machine.

Zip ties. Crowded cells. Guns trained on bewildered workers. Foul water. Forced vaccinations. An unconscious detainee left on the floor by guards. A pregnant woman in cuffs. These are the details of South Korean nationals’ experiences in ICE detention after the raid on a Hyundai-LG plant in Georgia.

📈NEW POLL: The Lab, @refugeesinternational.org & @dataforprogress.org find that more than two-thirds of voters believe the US should have a refugee resettlement program.
This poll also shows the deep unpopularity of several other immigration policy changes.

Thank you, Melanie Hicken at @cnn.com , for telling the stories of American kids impacted by immigration actions. The investigation found 100+ US citizen children were left without parents due to Trump’s deportation efforts.

On 9/30, over 100 victim services grants from the DOJ Office for Victims of Crime expired, and new funding opportunities have not been released. Without new funding to replace these grants, thousands of #humantrafficking survivors will lose access to lifesaving services.

Immigrant survivors of #humantrafficking face incredible barriers as they try to find safety. Legal service providers play a critical role in helping survivors navigate our complex legal system and access the documentation they need to begin establishing long-term stability.

Two named sites are operated by GEO Group, one of a number of private prisons set to reap massive profits under the admin’s anti-immigrant agenda.

And because Senator @ossoff.senate.gov ’s investigation of abuses in immigration detention is ongoing, further credible reports are likely to come.

No person – including children – should face deportation in court alone.

@AsmMiaBonta’s bill AB 1261 expands access to a lawyer for unaccompanied children to defend their rights in court.

@CAgovernor - Protect children from Trump's mass deportations and sign AB 1261 into law!
