I suspect (could be wrong, but a hunch) that for the people who were really active posting on Reddit or sharing P&L screenshots on X, “nerd culture” and the status pyramid that comes with that played just as big a part as the gambling aspect.

It’s obviously a sympathetic audience on here, but everything about this makes no sense to me. Deciding this is the asset class where you’ll make a fortune, and then once you have 10x an enormous fortune, continuing to bet huge — what’s the thought process? You trying to buy a hockey team?

Always had a soft spot for the Mariners and their fans — the 1995 ALDS, Griffey/Edgar/Randy Johnson/Ichiro, great city to visit. Way less postseason success than you’d expect for how good the franchise is. They’re like the Cubs for Millennials.
