First day at work
#Trigun

Meryl, fists on her hips and chin high, is gently scolding a bashful Milly, who’s wearing a tight blazer, shirt ready to pop out, pencil skirt and pointy high heels.

Legato had been bed-ridden for several days and Knives seemed unwilling to leave him. For all his sweet-talking, bribery, and attempts at physically wrangling him, Vash couldn’t budge him.

So all three of them spent the majority of their days in the bedroom they all shared.

Knives had grown much faster than any human child but their most recent move kept people from asking any uncomfortable questions. The single bed in their one bedroom home was cramped accommodating two fairly tall grown men and one rapidly growing boy. They discovered as he grew Knives couldn’t handle sleeping alone. If he didn’t sleep nestled safely between them both he spent most of the night plagued with nightmares.

Once he recoiled from the prosthetic arm Vash reached out to comfort him and screamed and screamed until he was hoarse.

It was moments like those where Vash came the closest to seeing his brother again. He hated how a part of him longed for these glimpses of Knives’s fear and pain burrowed so deep in the heart of him it set him on a course of self-destruction. It was awful witnessing it on a young face Vash knew intimately, a face he stared at every day once, inside and outside of the mirror, but at least for the briefest moment Knives was truly alive.

Then it’d pass and it was just Vash comforting a child possessed of a raw and primal fear he could not possibly understand.

So Knives stayed in their bed. Legato, of course, had no complaints.
