Sometimes a headscarf just feels like what you need, y'know? The excellence of a sweatshirt hood but more modular.
coreopsismajor.bsky.social
Because lemme tell you I am nonbinary as fuck but I still wear my headscarf into Orthodox churches because it just feels appropriate.
coreopsismajor.bsky.social
I grew up with both usages because I'm a Midwestern kid who learned some Russian real early, so I'm used to it but you can't make me call a headscarf a babushka. Won't do it. Too gendered for one thing.
coreopsismajor.bsky.social
They see soooo many gender miscellaneous people these days who just need their chest to match their everything else, that any surgeon worth anything is used to this shit now. Truly, it is a wonderful world.

Len, I comprehend what I just read so this is just a rhetorical exclamation: what the FUCK did I just read

Dissociation-- up to & including DID-- is more common that the culture around us will ever want to admit.

Talking & working w/ our "parts" does not make us some kind of "fragile" weirdo. It makes us realistic & adaptable in designing a recovery & a life.

you’re right and you should continue to say it about both plum blossoms and Fei-ge.

Not going to type any out here, but what I find fascinating is which numbers I still know. My childhood home number, the neighbors' which was similar to ours, and the number of a buddy and former partner I've known since the mid-90s. (And it was a ported from a landline he'd had as a child.)

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

We LOVE a doctor who will straight out say something like that about a colleague. Yes, Doc, tell it like it fuckin' IS.

Sure, but when I have the brain for thinking about sex writing, I want this nerd shit as well, and I support you wanting it because maybe we'll make more space for it somehow.

"Unexplained" pain & brain fog are very common experiences for CPTSD survivors-- which does NOT mean "it's all in your head."

It means trauma responses often co-occur w/ physical struggles-- especially when the medical picture is murky & medical support is inconsistent.

This is amazing, and also those face masks seriously rock!
coreopsismajor.bsky.social
It sure is. Sending you much love and support, espesh since I see you woke up feeling the ick today.

Find friends who enjoy oddities you enjoy. Truly, it's the weird friend culture I have that keeps me going some days. (Inspiration this time: @fellowhuman.bsky.social is watching Drawfee play "Road to Empress" and had to tell those of us on watch for Li Fucking Shimin's appearances in media. LFSM!)

Aww!

Also wow, Lexie's huge kitten paws!

Good luck, sorry you're in that awful parent-with-dementia club, and I hope you have some good times the next few days.

Mine too. I have my own regeneration in progress, but it doesn't require as much ENERGY as that did, or such long hours! But you know, chronic illness rolls different.
