The Primary Energy Fallacy is the idea that all primary energy from fossil fuels must be replaced with equivalent amount of clean energy.

BUT: Not necessary because >2/3 of all primary energy is lost as waste heat.

Electrification+renewables are far more efficient.

Short piece by Tobias Ide on how horribly wrong AI bots are when asked to analyze research, in this case around climate security.

I found when dealing with environmental security, it keeps referring back to ideas from the 1990s, most long since discredited

It really is remarkable that we have an opportunity to avert climate disaster and it is also the smart economic choice.

That hasn't always been the case.

Now it is.

Lower energy costs, lower health costs and huge averted climate damages.

And yet still, we let the greedheads win.

The Big Beautiful Bill repeals most regulations dealing with climate change including subsidies for the expansion of the cheapest energy sources (wind & solar). This will increase electicity costs for families. (NB: oil & gas receive subsidies too). Below is the price of not addressing the issue.

Batteries prevent blackouts that were caused by fossil fuel plant failures.
New York’s grid just got a Texas-sized wake-up call
As heat waves hit and demand climbs, storage is proving essential for grid stability and savings.
