Arizona announces they are suing Mike Johnson for refusing to swear in Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva.

She is the final vote needed to release the Epstein files.
Nice thing about only liking a *very* specific fragrance palette in the home is that I can get away with this, because all the candles are basically in a tightly clustered zone of the fragrance venn diagram.
Took a day last week to reclaim wax from old candles, today I'm doing it with the scented candles, so there will be options for candlemaking later. The scent for the new candles will be

*checks notes*

vanilla teak balsam palo santo earl grey leather driftwood

I think those'll go together ok.

I've seen multiple posts recently saying No Kings had no demands and I think I see what they mean but that also feels... not quite right to me

For one there's a demand in the name lol "no kings," like everyone was demanding an end to authoritarianism

Sunday President diarrheas on the country, Monday President bulldozes White House, Tuesday President steals $230 million, Wednesday President... fucks a horse? Let's see if he fucks a horse.
Oooh, that looks like just the tool for the job!

I think the theory is that dish soap's really good at cutting through grease, so if there's oily/waxy/greasy buildup it can chew through it.
Took an offering to Hekate at the crossroads last night, tidying the Zeus Ktesios shrine today, have a Hestia candle lit, making a grain offering at the Zeus Hekios statue in a bit... feels good to be reclaiming and re-enchanting my home, one little corner at a time.
Also, you still have to mop *after* to rinse the dish soap residue off. But it definitely gets in there and cuts greasy stuff without having to be on your knees scrubbing by hand. Probably worth doing a couple times a year.
I just scrubbed the pantry entry floor with that "dawn dish soap & a bristle broom as a floor scrubber" technique from TikTok & was like "yeah, this was okay" but then I opened the door to the next room (with the same flooring) &... oh no.

Yep, it works.

But now I have to do the kitchen to match.

I'm interested in learning more about what motivates fans to get their tattoos and their evolving relationship to them over time. I'm also interviewing tattoo artists on working on fandom-related tattoos, so please reach out if you have contacts in that space as well!

One of the main vectors of modern anti-vax is a Google cofounder’s ex wife using the fortune she got divorce to promote people like RFK Jr.
billionaires should not be allowed to exist because the downside of "one of them loses their mind" is simply too dangerous for a functional society

also, having a billion dollars tends to make you lose your mind
The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

Listen to me. Listen. If you're making images that will only be displayed on screens, YOU HAVE TO LET GO. You can calibrate your screens perfectly, but then 25k people will see it on their shitty $50 monitors or cracked phone and its out of your hands. Don't think of it. Achieve enlightenment.

It’s kind of wild that after seven million people were in the streets protesting, the president posted a hallucinated video of himself wearing a crown and shitting on Americans and then proceeded to start demolishing parts of the White House

The phrase "trans activist" is goofy because like 95% of the time it's used it refers to a trans person simply existing.

Media, pointing at a woman buying a coffee: behold, a trans activist.

Woman: buying coffee is not activism stop being so fucking weird

Media: trans activist criticizes media

Food Crime of the Week:

Pumpkin Spice Twinkies

Unfortunately, I liked it.

Faint chemical ozone upon opening the wrapper, but no more than any other twinkie. Good spice blend, mostly in the creme filling, doesn't try to pretend it's pumpkin bread or cream cheese. It's *exactly* what it is.

Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

We have to talk about how much of our lives is inundated by scams, paving the way for this to flourish. A feature of poorly regulated capitalism has been to legitimize scams into every area of life and transfer the burden of discerning legitimacy - "doing your own research" - to individuals alone.
Literally all I’m saying is that if you admit we are in a cesspool of disinformation/misinformation and propaganda, then you should be willing to admit that there are people who are being impacted by it and maybe the problems we have go beyond “personal responsibility” for info consumption

There is an actual life-changing conflict between WFH being cheaper and more efficient, an entire layer of middle managers who need to have meetings to feel alive, and the commercial real estate cabal that runs all cities. It’s going to get so fucking weird.
remote work is like birth control or UBI atp where there’s overwhelming research consensus they improve quality of life for people they apply to, yet access is impeded or blocked by the ruling class because the thought of marginalized ppl having rich full lives makes steam come out their ears
2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.
