The White House said on Tuesday it will submit plans for President Donald Trump's $250 million White House ballroom project to a body that oversees federal building construction, even though demolition work began earlier this week reut.rs/4ndTcfL

In the long run, Biden keeping that wall between himself and DOJ - leading to the conviction and humiliation of his son - achieved absolutely nothing. The standard is gone. The incentive for future presidents is to punish your enemies and say "your mom, lol" when reporters ask about it.
there are good & worthwhile historical & legal arguments for why the unitary executive is nonsense but to my mind the most straightforward argument is that it makes no logical sense that the president has absolute removal power over the people whose job it is to keep the executive branch accountable
The Inspector General system is basically broken now. Most IGs have been fired, most positions remain vacant. Those who remain or would take the job pose no risk to holding the regime accountable.
Congress added more barriers to Trump firing IGs after his first term. He just ignored them.

So the senator who is retiring condemns it and the two senators up for reelection wanting Trump’s endorsement won’t comment. Courageous and principled as always.

I lived with my dad when I was very young and he didn’t apply for food stamps or free school lunches, though we qualified.

So, I went hungry. It was awful. I begged neighbors for saltine crackers. I can say it was the worst time of my life.

Children shouldn’t go hungry. Restore SNAP benefits.

California is deploying the California National Guard to quickly assist families whose federal food benefits are halted because of Donald Trump's government shutdown.

We won't let the GOP's cruel inaction force millions of Californians to go hungry.

It’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.

Little late, Historic Preservation Group! 🤷🏼

“Trump’s proposed 90,000-square-foot addition would overwhelm the White House itself (it is 55,000 square feet) and may also permanently disrupt the carefully balanced classical design of the White House.”

Republicans worked overtime to pass their Big Ugly Bill, taking food away from millions of people—all to fund tax breaks for billionaires.

Now they're threatening to withhold SNAP benefits because of *their* shutdown.

They can easily find the money to keep SNAP going. They just don't want to.
170,000 Mainers won’t get November SNAP benefits. Blame the shutdown.
About 12.5% of Maine's residents use the assistance program previously known as food stamps, which is already facing historic cuts included in the Republican budget bill passed over the summer.

When people are actually paying out triple what they used to pay for insurance, Republicans will be shouting "don't believe that you just made that huge insurance payment - it's just Dem propaganda!"

So wait — Republicans are insisting Trump is paying for the $250,000,000 ballroom himself (he isn’t)… even as he extorts basically the same amount from the DOJ?

Y’all will really run cover for any amount of corruption and greed huh

Lot going on but Susan Collins, who claims to support abortion rights, voted to install an anti-abortion law professor as an appeals court judge. That nominee, Jennifer Mascott, refused to say whether Trump could order the military to assassinate his political opponents. @jezebeldotcom.bsky.social
