Put on the pre-game show while I’m cleaning my apartment and I might need the Mariners to win just so commentators stop saying stupid shit about the value of contact or whatever
dbrim.com
Yeah, at that point Muncy and Snell were on the IL, Glasnow just got back, Shohei was pitching two innings, Freddie and Mookie were in career-worst slumps, the bullpen didn’t have Sasaki, etc etc etc.

It’s not really relevant at all. The Dodgers were not the same team.

I would consider Yamamoto their best pitcher so I would prefer him to get two guaranteed starts, and he couldn’t start game 1 because they never have him do four days’ rest
dbrim.com
Yeah it means Shohei can’t have his day off, basically. Can’t really hold him to game 5 unless they have Snell go in game 4 on short rest which… please don’t
dbrim.com
Actually maybe you flip Glasnow and Ohtani since you’d be more confident in the former on 4 days’ rest in game 7
dbrim.com
Yamamoto can’t do 3/7 on his normal rest pattern
dbrim.com
Anyways I guess this means they have to pick between Yamamoto or Ohtani starting twice, which presumably means Yamamoto game 2, Ohtani 3, Glasnow 4, then repeat

It brings me no pleasure to report this

The dodgers are the villains in this series but I regret to inform you that they are the heroes, aesthetically

Somebody was riding a dirt bike on the multi-use path near my place the other week, I was so furious

Haha thanks, Phyllis!! That was a wild one. I did address my excited shove with Mo. here’s what he had to say:

As it was last year, this is the segment that scares me. 17 miles into the ride, and very very mean. Last year I walked half of it, and I have to be mentally prepared to do the same this year
Strava segment: Ladera Lane. 0.86 miles at an average of 10.9%.

A few things going for me over last year:
1. More comfortable riding in groups so for the first 15 flat miles I might have some draft
2. Easier gearing on the bike, so hills will feel less stabby even if I go the same speed
3. I’m a little faster on the flats this year

I don’t really have a goal for it other than just finishing, which would be a pretty big achievement given the shape I was in physically and mentally when I moved. Would be nice to do a faster time than last year but if I don’t it’s not the end of the world.

Didn’t quite get the consistency I wanted but I’m feeling pretty good about my prep for next week’s ride. Biggest concern is that I haven’t gone past a 4 hour ride this year and last year I had more long ride prep. Overall fitness is about the same, so we’ll see.
Strava graph of the amount of bike ride time I’ve had per week for the last six months, with an overall total of 88 hours.

Norimoto’s peak corresponded to when I was most plugged into NPB and I got a few “what’s up with this guy” inquiries from US people. Some US scouts said “reliever body type and command” even then, so I see why he signed an extension in Japan. Funny that it went that way in the end.

Another guy who probably waited too long. Might have gotten nine figures if posted in like 2017. Stuff still is ok in relief and I think he gets a major league deal but he’s also a lesser profile than Matsui was a few years ago.

My parents are in town on Monday and they will understand if I am a bad host

It’s not the same Dodger team as it was in July but the Brewers are a very good team and I fear people will forget that
