Shadow of the Vampire was a good time, but it would have been better if Nick Cage had starred in it instead of just producing.

this is stretching the definition of "horror" a bit, but Tammy and the T-Rex is great.

more updates on the situation at Free Geek Twin Cities.

8 staff have left since June. the board and management are burning it down, possibly in response to the staff unionizing. do not give them your support.

i can't lie - i like tiling window managers, and kind of dig hyprland's whole aesthetic. i had fun (and learned a lot) using it as an alternative desktop environment in fedora for a few months, but it was a bit too janky, and i didn't feel comfortable going to its noxious community for sup[...]

Batletech (2018) is the best XCOM (2012)-like ever made imo.
does anyone else find the way modern Devices seem to resist being turned off disturbing?

like, we used to have toggle switches for this. flip it one way to turn the thing on, flip it the other way to turn it off. but now we have buttons, except if you press them it doesn't even turn the d[...]

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.
Strange Darling was also great. not really horror, but still felt appropriate for the season.

Scream is great. another movie where it's easy to understand why it became such a touchstone.

The Invisible Maniac needs a long list of CW's, but if they aren't deal breakers for you, it's a very fun B Movie.

considering becoming a leg day skipper

(technically i don't do a proper "leg day' right now, but i do heavy lower stuff in every one of my sets, and i'm thinking about changing that).
if you have bsky enabled, your posts appear both places. if you don't, they're on WAFRN only.

if the post is under bsky's character limit, it just looks like a normal post on bsky. if it goes over, it gets truncated, and links to the full post.
