I hope to catch it another time, Dave - goodness knows, I have enough ancestors hiding there! 😂

Not too many miles from my ancestors' stomping ground, I guess. 😁

Thanks for the tips. I'm relatively inexperienced, so I don't always know where to look. The surname is Drew.

Yes, and the parish registers helpfully name the streets where people lived. Since posting earlier, I've found this very useful webpage on the parish. www.londonlives.org/static/StBot...

As so very often happens, Action for Happiness and I are in synch. 🙌 😊

Can you help, kind Bluesky genealogist? If my ancestor lived in "Eastsmithfield", St Botolph's, Aldgate, City of London, does this tend to imply that s/he lived at the workhouse? I'm thinking 1770-1800. Are there workhouse records from which I could check? #genealogy

I'll take a picture with next time, if I remember. I don't think it has all the information this once does. It certainly makes me think, when I see it there.

I see this plaque regularly when visiting Bideford (in fact, I was there today). I almost always notice it and it sets me thinking.

Thank you very much! It's been a constant irritation when I've been looking for proper historical sources.

Not least as an excuse for a road trip! 🤣 Maybe if I use DNA research to solve my 'Did the lord of the manor impregnate my 4 x great grandma?' family myth/mystery, I will find that clarity for myself.

This looks brilliant fun and if my grandchildren and I were in the area, we'd definitely be calling in. Have a great day!

I'd always wondered about Scottish ethnicity on my Ancestry DNA test. Now it's gone & I have Northern Wales & North West England, which ties in my research (for this branch I've used DNA cousins for the first time). Denmark has largely gone. I would love more clarity on my NW Europe heritage.

Dare I mention this to my Yorkshire-born husband? Possibly not.

A very apt post. You're not selfish to want quiet. That's where peace or the movement towards it, begins: when our nervous systems begin to settle, we can get perspective on events and rediscover our human bonds with each other.

I've sent you an email. 👍

I've literally just thought of your podcast - right after spotting two hilarious names in someone's family tree. 😁

I love the last one, she's positively voluptuous. 😁

I meant 'tail', of course. That's what happens when you post things before you've had your breakfast! 😁

Another south-western mermaid. The very shape of the peninsula is a mermaid's tale! @willsmanonename.bsky.social

I spy mermaids playing harps. Chair in Totnes museum.

We spent no more than a couple of hours there, having first visited Saltram, a bit further up the road. (Although a part of me really wanted to be poking around in Devonport, looking for ancestor hang-outs. 😁)

You've had quite a week. 😄 I hadn't been to Antony, unlike most National Trust properties in Devon and Cornwall. Really enjoyed it.

I'll do my level best! 👍😁

I was going to mention that I'd seen actual costumes from Wolf Hall and then I read your final sentence and rethought.
