Ugggh, yep, avoiding a 1.5h commute was also why I decided to buy the hotspot. IG I could have driven in, but lumen made me wait a week and a half for a tech

I have a new addition to my collection of earrings based on the forms of insect antennae. I started with serrate; then I did pectinate. The latter were my favorite and recently broke so I am recarving them and also did this lamellate set (bottom pair). Loving them!
Three sets of wooden earrings carved from oak. The top set are hoop-shaped with the bottom outer edge with projecting teeth like a serrated knife. The middle set has extensions hanging downwards that give it a comb-like appearance. The bottom has overlapping rounded plates hanging downwards.

This happens every time someone says they have criticisms of something but don't say what
Commentary on the Israel/Gaza conflict literally makes me want to tear my fucking brain out. It is uniquely neurocognitively *painful.* Example: I have so many criticisms of the current Gov't of Israel. Yet everyone who goes on who is
"critical of Israel" just lies!

What are some of those criticisms?

Why would I spend my time going down your rabbit hole?
Why do you engage in this sophomoric BS?

It's not a rabbit hole. It's a single question. If you have all these criticisms you're dying to

Basic bee facts every day at 3pm.

# 188

Research indicates that the more plant species there are in a meadow, the more bee species are needed for pollination.
‘Rare species’ #bees often forage on and pollinate plants that the more common species of bees don’t.

Got word last week that my legal battle with Spartan Mosquito will be included in a book chapter on the legal risks of science communication. And by the way, if anyone gets SLAPPed and wants to chat, DM me. 🧪🌿⚖️ #legal #mosquitoes #scicomm #science #slapp #defamation #lawsuit

Male and female chalcids that emerged from redbud seedpods. Both are in the genus Eurytoma and are possibly the same species but further identification is beyond my skill set. I can't find any mention of them being recorded as parasitoids of redbud bruchids. 🌿 #wasps #hymenoptera #insects #bruchidae
Two photographs of black wasps that look roughly the same except that top one has hairy antennae with large gaps in between the segments, while the bottom one has more beadlike antennae. The lower one also has an ovipositor. Their legs are partly orange and their head and thorax have pits and short white hairs.

More wasps from Sichuan! This time we describe a new rose gall found on a protected endemic rose from China. We named the gall wasp Diplolepis nezha and its ichneumonid parasitoid Orthopelma aobing, after characters from the Chinese legend/popular animated film.

A blue death-feigning beetle (Asbolus verrucosus) climbs down some stone. These beetles are ridiculous and move like fake bugs, just unfathomably cute.

#insects #coleoptera #beetles #invertebrates #m43 #invertefest #invertober
A waxy, sky blue beetle is in frame with segmented antennae, reddish hairs on its feet, and rows of bumps along its elytra. It is hanging precipitously from a small cliff of stone to reach a lower level of stone.

At some point in the last 2.5 years I went to bed thinking of Israel as a flawed but recoverable democracy that could work out its issues eventually post-Netanyahu and woke up holding it in the same disdain as Milošević’s Yugoslavia and the Confederate States
diplomatofnight.com
Apropos absolutely nothing else there is still a rather rude awakening which is yet to come for those in the Democratic Party and in the camp of liberalism writ large if they think Israel's public image is at all recoverable among young and nonwhite voters and apparatchiks.

Netanyahu's mouthpiece, Amit Segal, casually admits on Twitter that his country has been holding 1,700 people from Gaza hostage, including children.

- 1,700 residents of the Gaza Strip who were not involved in the events of October 7 and were arrested after the massacre will be released.
- 22 minors under the age of 18, residents of the Gaza Strip who were not involved in the events of October 7 and were arrested after the massacre, will be released.
