Beautifully camouflaged and slightly blurred but definitely a willow warbler.
There were 2 flitting about in the birch trees (so fast and acrobatic!)
I thought they’d already gone so it was lovely to see them.

Really enjoyed listening to this interview with @wanderinggaia.bsky.social
She talks with great clarity about the underlying causes of climate migration, how the #climatecrisis is affecting our world and the inevitable shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

It’s #bookshopday and I met the amazing #MonicaFeria-Tinta at The Sussex Bookshop, talking about her book Barrister for the Earth.
Inspiring listening to hear her talk about acting for the rights of nature, including for rivers and chalk streams here in the UK.

The sea was perfectly still today and merging tonally with the sky, there was just a faint hint of turquoise in the water.

There are rumours that some in Westminster want to remove the Protected Landscapes duty, the only real power to secure action for nature. We can't let 30 years of campaigning for National Parks go down the drain ⚠️Write to your MP👇

Just extraordinary to witness this nature-hating government sabotaging Labour’s own legacy. And for absolutely no reason: nature protection isn’t blocking development - it’s a necessary prerequisite for it (& for everything else, come to that…)
Plans to weaken protections for national parks will have ‘disastrous consequences’ say green groups

Beautiful early autumn day in the garden and still lots of insects around. It helps having late flowering plants and wildflowers. Bristly ox-tongue and asters still going strong, as well as scabious and ice plants. Ivy flowers are just coming out.

This arson attack took place in Sussex where I live.
Solidarity with the Muslim community.
The Green party’s co-deputy leader, Mothin Ali, said police needed to “urgently seek clarity” on the motives of the attack & whether it also constituted an act of terrorism

📢 Lugg Meadow, the UK’s largest remaining Lammas meadow, is under threat from housing plans. A rare habitat, rich in wildlife and tradition, could be irreversibly damaged.

🚫 We’ve objected to the proposal. Now it’s your turn.
