He grew up in NC and he's lived here in OR for a number of years. I've never noticed anything in the way of a particular dialect. I'm thinking he's the weirdo here, though. 😅

I told my BF that I had a stitch in my side, and he had no idea what I meant. He thought I hurt myself and I had gotten stitches. He said it was some "east coast Vermont country bumpkin nonsense." 😅 Is this not a common term?

This seems to miss that there are numerous reasons someone might respond this way. I'm doubting most respondents just had no idea chips were made out of potatoes; many of them might have figured Lay's was using some cheap processed ingredients to make their chips--not exactly unreasonable.
