Good conversation about a great movie. Give a listen if you’re into noir, John Garfield, or Ernest Hemingway. And especially if you don’t know much about any of them!
Thank you. That’s very nice. She had a great life.
“Something else.” Now I’m intrigued.
But what would the movie be?
@noirfoundation.bsky.social If I could cast two people for lead roles in a movie, @eddiemuller.bsky.social and Alicia Malone would be my picks. (Let Alicia know about this note.)
Happy to sign ‘em all.

Why does tonight’s #DisabilityFilm showcase on @tcmtv.bsky.social in partnership w/@reelabilities.bsky.social matter? Because programming and perspective matter.

To clarify: when I said it “could never be made into a movie,” what I meant is that a movie version would never be as sneakily subversive as the book, where you don’t realize at the start something crucially important about the protagonist, who is telling the story in the first-person. Unique.
@eddiemuller.bsky.social - I finished The Expendable Man moments ago. I read it on your recommendation. I was intrigued by you comment that it could never be made into a movie. Eddie, I love your insights, but I can’t agree with you on this. I think it would make a fantastic movie.

Wish it didn’t need to be written.
Bill Watterson is the greatest.
Unfortunately, you missed it. The Bologna festival did a fabulous Gabin retrospective several years ago.

To the film fans who know what a thrill it is when Marie Windsor or Audrey Totter's names appear in the opening credits, @eddiemuller.bsky.social's book DARK CITY DAMES has a new edition from @runningpressbooks.bsky.social & @tcmtv.bsky.social and I got to interview him: comicon.com/2025/05/20/t...
Terrific film … even with the absurd twist at the end.
I have shown it on Noir Alley.
That was critics at the time being lazy. Any movie in which a cuckolded husband’s death was plotted was immediately called a knockoff of DOUBLE INDEMNITY.
