Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

It’s #BannedBooksWeek and yes, they banned To Kill a Mockingbird because it “makes people uncomfortable.”

That’s the point!

Books that expose racism and injustice should make you squirm.

Silencing truth is cowardice.
Read what they fear.📚

It’s #BannedBooksWeek! Author Nikkolas Smith reminds us that when they ban books about justice and equality, they reveal their fear—not our failure.
The more they push back, the more creators will rise.
Art is resistance.
Stories are power.
Keep the fight alive.

“He takes food and health care from the neediest and tries to, in his words, traumatize people—then he calls himself a Christian,” a neighbor told Mother Jones. “Pretty despicable.”
Russ Vought is Trump’s shutdown hero. His neighbors think his work is "abhorrent."
The people living near Trump's "grim reaper" of government cuts have put up signs letting him know they stand with federal workers.

Trump and Vance want badly to stop you from using the f-word

That's because if we accurately call out rising fascism from the streets of Chicago to the waters of the Caribbean, we will understand that we must fight back with the moral strength of war

Why we can’t allow Trump to ban that other f-word | Will Bunch
The column the Trump regime wants to ban: America has to call out surging fascism in order to defeat it.

Four U.S. citizen children were detained in an ICE raid—zip-tied, separated, held for hours.

Imagine if these were your precious little ones! Can you close your eyes to this depravity? Please don't.

Remember

If this could happen to these little kids, it can happen to yours.

Speak out now!

Jane Goodall's work insisting, with evidence from her brilliant and tenacious fieldwork, that we were not so separate from animals, and they were much more like us than the Eurocentric theorists asserted, was so important.

(3,3) Every Democrat should leave DC ASAP to do this. Hold town halls. Go to malls. Get on media. Grab hold of the messaging and why and forget about DC. It has moved on without Democrats and at this point Democrats should do nothing but learn to communicate.
