maybe one of the essential lessons of capitalism/fascism is that the fascists are never satisfied taking away the rights and lives of some other people

they don't become satisfied, and then stop

they want to do it to everyone else, without exception, and eventually they dispense with the pretexts
eikonos.bsky.social
i understand that under capitalism, we've internalized the idea that everyone's needs can't be met, because that's just not profitable, therefore some people's needs must be unmet

and people won't willingly allow their essential needs to be unmet, therefore police must do it by force

when ICE kidnaps someone, people keep saying, "i thought they only did that to criminals?"

when police kill someone, people have been saying, "i assume they only do that to criminals, therefore the victim must have been a criminal"

all those "news" reports about "officer-involved" shootings were intended to convince people to support (or at least stay silent) as police killed other people on the street

given time, the "new" will probably report on "immigrant-involved deportations" or some such nonsense
eikonos.bsky.social
the difference between ICE and the regular police, is that ICE haven't had decades of "news" media normalizing their presence on our streets as some sort of "public safety" campaign

that was always, ALWAYS politics and we were BEGGING yall to listen this whole time

it's not "anymore"

it's "never was"

There's no "regular politics" anymore because you can no longer maintain the idea that we all agree on common goals but we only differ about the means of getting there or whatever. The guys in charge now are plainly amoral, sadistic nihilists. They delight in it! You can't civilly disagree with that

It’s Sunday in Victoria and that means…libraries are closed! Sure would be nice to visit the library on this rainy day, but there seems to be no money to open the library all weekend.

Unless… #DefundVicPD #yyj

If they cut the police budget, they could keep property tax increases at zero, while increasing funding some other departments that need it.

Oh dude just went right into the misogyny. Fucking a. It's like so many people have this thin layer of fake civility but the moment you tell them they're wrong they do crap like this

This guy rocks (derogatory). You’re apparently a “thirst trap white woman” and were just all simps for thinking he’s a dumbass.

As much disdain as I have for Large Accounts that do a bunch of venting on main like they're smol beans, I have a ton more for the army of followers who swarm people like "they're a human being, don't police their expression of emotions!" This is the same as simping for favor from the rich.

Just because you're simping for a leftist conventionally attractive thirst trap white woman doesn't make you any different from the people who spend all day doing the same on X for Elon Musk.

I’m very pro-immigration, and so I’m always going to say that if work needs to be done than the worker deserves the right to have a path to citizenship. Thus, I’m 100% against the TFW program. That it also suppresses wages adds to my being against it.

One of the only welcome things about this current period in the U.S. is that the "this is not who WE are" stuff might finally be over.

Yeah, that would drive costs down. What's wrong with doing that?

Why did the Democrats spend tax money bombing people though? I mean, seriously, why did they choose to do that?

Tell me more about what you think this "socialism" version of housing looks like.
eikonos.bsky.social
Do you think that we're faced with a choice of either a housing market controlled by investors or socialism?

I know all about investing-based housing because that's the world we live in, so what does this socialism thing look like to you?
eikonos.bsky.social
I don't know, but based on the timing, that could be it.
eikonos.bsky.social
In your version of "abundance", you want to ensure that people can't own their own homes, you want to ensure that landlords are given priority.

Landlords already have priority, that's why there isn't enough housing.

Personally, I think hitting someone with your car and fleeing the scene is exponentially worse than not paying about $20 worth of transit fares, but the people who make the laws think these things are the same, and should be punished the same.
