I love it, but what if we designed the necessity of cars out of our lives

What if you had to take your drivers test at least every 10 years?

A lot changes over time. Including knowledge/memory of the road rules, driver skills and ability, and the size and deadliness of vehicles.

I was thinking about my grandmother. She loved baseball. She loved the Blue Jays and she loved the Mariners. She would have loved all of this, knowing one of them was going to the World Series. She's been dead 22 years & every few weeks during baseball season, I'll look in on the standings for her.

She says since becoming public safety minister, she has met with “every municipal police chief” across B.C. and has discussed some of the challenges departments face.

They include the toxic drug crisis, an increase in homelessness and the “increasing complexity of mental health responses,” she says. ONLY cartoon dog

Implementation pushed back to 2027 (originally promised for Spring 2026). Guess it’s been harder than expected to ring fence at-capacity voluntary treatment infrastructure for unproven, forced care.

This video is a chilling reminder of what one aspect of street-violence looks like, particularly with a deadly weapon.

People and public spaces must be protected from this kind of deliberate lethal entitlement from drivers that have a disregard for pedestrian well-being and human life. #visionzero

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

The Chicago story, as many have noted, rhymes an awful lot with some pretty terrible history.

But evidence also reminds me of the Aurora, CO, landlord who really amped up the Venezuelan gang story at his buildings seemingly to get out of code violations. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/c429982...

This is wild. Dozens of nurses and other healthcare workers had their personal information stolen in a data breach from their employer. But the publicly run Interior Health Authority in B.C denied it for 10 years, even as crimes were being committed using their info
