A White Christian nationalist pastor argued recently on a right-wing podcast that the Bible--specifically Deuteronomy 21, about how a father must bring his rebellious son to the town square to be stoned--justifies state violence against Black boys and young men.
I'm on the slowest bus line in the city with the slowest buses in the nation to talk to New Yorkers about what it would mean for their lives if we made them fast and free.
these are my children. they are all beautiful to me. a good mother does not have a favorite child. my favorite child is friends to keep in art and life.
Y'all sure put a lot of effort into making free advertising for Amazon. Definitely did not subscribe for this... where's the good journalism I was actually into?
"Men Yell At Me", my favorite newsletter that I obsessively read every single issue, is celebrating 5 years today. @lyz.bsky.social thoughtful takes on whatever is going on in a broader systematic view are always worth my time. Congrats and hope for 5 more, Lyz! lyz.substack.com/p/you-dont-w...
So gross. Really wish @wired.com was better than this -- but no, they sent me a glowing email this morning about all the deals. Maybe tomorrow they'll send out some indie recommendations? Doubtful.
twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross
We also live in Colorado -- a place with a lot of winding roads and a lot of extreme weather. I've found those tools to be useful and work well on long, straight, boring road stretches like I-70 across Kansas and 285 between Bailey and Buena Vista.

If you don't follow and receive @15outof10.org weekly emails... well, you're missing out on cute, heartwarming stories of people caring for the sweetest dogs in awful situations. Absolutely makes my day every time I get that email. Thanks @weratedogs.com for making the world a little better.
This is Misty. She ate an entire corn cob. To survive, Misty needed emergency surgery to remove it. We were able to cover that thanks to a donation from Vital Farms. Because of them, Misty made it through surgery and now has more plushies than she knows what to do with ❤️🩹
The really nice thing is that you don't get on the mailing list of all the non-profits. They just get a nice big boost of cash and can get on with their work!
Every month the crew at @nexton9news.bsky.social find wonderful Colorado non-profits to boost that otherwise might not have any fundraising abilities or media attention. I've been donating monthly since Jan 2024--I love how easy it is to be part of and appreciate their work finding these great orgs.
Thank you for asking. We're SO close to 6,000 monthly donors whose recurring monthly donations support each of our weekly non-profit causes equally. Here's the link to join them if you're interested: www.coloradogives.org/donate/Wordo...
