This unwell man, who was President of the United States, is trying to rewrite history.

Nice try, Don. Biden wasn’t president on January 6, 2021. I would say even his own voters can’t be this gullible, but…

“I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. During that time, I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney.” - George Retes, U.S. citizen and veteran.
I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

Live performance of "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield in 1967. The song was written in 1966 in response to the Sunset Strip curfew riots in Los Angeles. It became an anthem for generational conflict, civil unrest, and later anti-war movements.

"The lyrics are still so relevant."

The nation’s largest private prison company is asking the Supreme Court to give federal contractors blanket immunity from lawsuits — including human trafficking claims.

If they win, private contractors could operate with even less accountability than they do now.
The Human Trafficking Case That Could Hand Government Contractors Blanket Immunity
In a little-noticed Supreme Court case, the country’s largest private prison operator argues companies should be shielded from lawsuits when doing the government’s dirty work.

The IRS is laying off people during the shutdown, even though it was rehiring staff it previously fired because it was so shorthanded.
This one stands out because firing IRS employees costs the government money, since they bring in about $6-8 for every dollar spent on tax enforcement
IRS Halts Layoff Plans, Begins Rehiring Amid Staffing Shortages
The agency is attempting to rebuild its workforce and restore public confidence.
Treasury Department: Treasury cut 1,446 employees on Friday. Two Internal Revenue Service employees confirmed layoffs were taking place at the tax agency, which has already shed more than 25,000 employees. One employee who was laid off was working Friday and exempt from shutdown furloughs.

George was just trying to get to work.

ICE pepper-sprayed him, dragged him from his car, locked him in a detention center, and placed him on suicide watch. He even missed his young daughter’s birthday in the process.

This man is a veteran and American citizen. Don't look away.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

Test data analysis from the decades before international studies became more systematic shows that US schools are performing about the same as they always have while becoming increasingly diverse & losing funding. US schools aren’t perfect, but they are remarkably consistent over time.

Again, respectfully, the data doesn’t back that up. US public education wasn’t inclusive in the 1960s & 1970s, with thousands of children left out of schools. Comparative international data didn’t really exist then, but the data we do have shows achievement improved from 1971-2017.

I respectfully disagree. I’ve been a social studies educator for 25 years & k-12 social studies isn’t meant to be whitewashed or watered down. I teach undergrad elementary social studies methods & our work is centered on teaching inquiry based, justice oriented, and inclusive k-6 social studies.

This is why Trump & Republicans went into the shutdown so confident. They banked on the Democratic Party’s weak reputation and assumed they would cave.

Well that’s not happening. Democrats are on the right side of the healthcare fight, and rank-and-file Dems want this battle because it’s worth it.
