It points to the conditional effect of party system structure on AP in multiparty systems and stresses the weight of the available party offer in shaping horizontal AP

We show that policy overlap with other parties in multiparty systems increases sympathy for their voters and reduces attachment to one's own electorate, while lack of overlap produces the opposite effect.
