The speed was slow at first. I noticed it about 15 years ago. Changes in definitions and the recent pace is mind blowing. Swings and roundabouts hopefully 🤞 we won’t be on dark side of the moon for too long.

Sadly I agree it’s not about to happen anytime soon. We past saturation point, and the “ squeeze “ on those who survive/ thrive, narrows the need for university spaces. All education is under attack globally i think accidentally on some levels it’s resulting in where we are in global politics.

It’s such a design failure in my opinion, wrong environments, wrong approaches. We talk about diversity but have only 2 designs of education. Specialist provision and mainstream? Seems rather unlikely to work to my logic. A failed social experiment. Those in it too scared to call out.

I get it now ! Yes you’re right!

💯 percent. They all know it’s failed. Continuing knowingly to keep failing is a deliberate act of mass discrimination. Why? Money? It costs more in longer term. Utterly shameful to be honest I think.

Dyslexic moment neurodivergent kids. Apologies.
empoweredscotland.bsky.social
Not providing neurodiversity kids or kids with ASN is a political act of omission. It ensures increased health inequalities and increases dependency. Unmet needs cause poverty.

Cab Sec @jennygilruth.bsky.social referencing our #challengepoverty survey launched this week which showed 64% of children are coming to school hungry and one quarter of schools are hosting food banks.

This year’s theme for International Day of the Girl Child is “The girl I am, the change I lead”, it honours girls on the frontlines of crisis, those shaping their futures despite systemic inequality. Yet the global picture shows how far there is still to go.

#DayoftheGirl #GenerationEquality
A graphic by Scottish Ethnic Minority Autistics (SEMA) for International Day of the Girl Child, dated 11 October 2025. The background shows young girls of colour playing together on a playground. The text reads: “The girl I am is not defined by barriers but by how I move through them.”

Accessible appropriate food for neurodivergent children who either can’t eat what’s on offer or are on part time tables or out of school? Intersectionality of poverty and ASN rarely discussed. It also increases health inequalities to already vulnerable pupils.

I am amazed even 1/10 SEND parents say they're getting support at the right level

As one of the 9 in 10, the exhausting battle, the constant emails, phonecalls, letters, research, websites is overwhelming and time/energy consuming

Looking forward to seeing this film.🍿

Everyone needs stability in education. We hear from so many families whose children are on long term part time timetables etc.Education in Scotland is not on its knees we way past that. Will anyone take action? ASN parent votes are up for grabs. Our kids are “ left behind “.
eisunion.bsky.social
With no tangible progress having been made on delivery of the commitment, we now believe it is necessary to remind the Scottish Government of the importance of honouring its promise to Scotland’s teachers, pupils and voters.

Autistic humans don’t burn out from being autistic.

We burn out from pretending we’re not.

From jobs, families, and systems that punish difference and call it “help”.

Recovery isn’t about fixing us.

It’s about changing the conditions.

Even one small one at first is already a huge step.

This year’s theme, “Mental health in humanitarian emergencies”, reminds us that mental health support is not a luxury. It is a necessity that must reach everyone, especially those already living at the margins of care.

Below, there is an illustration of a blue human silhouette with an open doorway in the head, from which colourful plants and leaves emerge, symbolising growth and mental wellbeing. A green awareness ribbon appears on the lower right, with soft floral accents and pastel clouds in the background.
