Cons have lost all norms, so Trump says "Lock her up!" Dems are appropriately reluctant to mirror that. That induces weasel words like "hold them accountable."
This is not only reasonable and responsible; it’s literally what’s supposed to happen when people break the law.
They’re kidnapping and robbing people under color of law. That erodes already flagging public trust in law enforcement and endangers everyone in uniform.
The point of due process is that it's really bad to have a unitary authority deciding who deserves what. If the executive can decide unilaterally who doesn't deserve due process, then no one enjoys a guarantee of due process.
He may not *deserve* any more, but for the good of our society, throwing out due process and in essence abrogating the Constitution just to get revenge seems really unwise or at least premature.
God knows this whole evil lot exposes my own duplicity, because Jesus says to pray for our enemies, and holy shit are these people my enemies, and yet I rarely stop to pray for them. What I pray is that they would find Jesus, repent, resign, and turn themselves in to face justice.
It's an essential part of the Christian gospel that even a sack of shit like him isn't out of the reach of God's grace, and could repent and confess and find Jesus even now.
Of course as conservatives like to recall, even if sins are forgiven, there's still earthly justice to be meted out.

It would help immensely if other countries would speak up. (Yes, I know he's our embarrassment and mostly our problem to fix, but international murderous aggression should be called out anyway.)
If many of our democratic former peers/allies speak up, it will be hard for the media to downplay it.
Looks like literally every one of them was already leaving the room. Not like they can muscle their way back in just so they can walk out again in protest.
