The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

I suspect the next part is going to be INS/GPS and some type of data-link.

Electronics tend to shrink. For some reason weapon systems seems not to take advantage of this trend.

Another way to think of this is as a 5 sensor design.

Where the 4 fins will guide the missile towards it's intended direction and target.

And the IR seeker will increase the hit probability and also increase the rate of fire.

This is not a full Fire and Forget capability. But it would help a lot.

Behind "Distributed Aperture Semi-Active Laser Seeker" is a 'simple concept:

- 4 fins with it's own laser seeker is added to the tip of each rocket.

- In most cases 4 simple sensors is better than a single advanced sensor.

- In some way adding a IR seeker breaks with the simple 4 fin design.

My view on APKWS II with dual seeker.

Hydra 70 missiles are very simple compared to modern complex missiles.

They are based on the unguided rocket pods, where they have added the fancy named "Distributed Aperture Semi-Active Laser Seeker".

Estonia has sentenced a serviceman to nearly five years in prison for spying for Russia’s FSB.

Estonian citizen, Ivan Dmitriev, in March and May 2025 cooperated with FSB officer. He was a member of the voluntary defense organization, where he carried out various tasks, including operating drones.
