After a holiday, some students will struggle with self-regulation.

They may be experiencing anxiety and other big feelings as they adjust back to a regular school day.

Consistent, predictable routines are key.

Teachers can create a safe landing for our students.

We’ve got this.

I began writing this story with a naive question in mind: What do we lose when public education is privatized? A lot, actually.

By following the MAGA playbook, the UCP’s push against public education not only undermines democracy, it jeopardizes the possibility of a better future for all Albertans.

MAGA’s Project 2025 has become a blueprint for undermining Canada’s schools in the name of profit and privilege.

The numbers are actually worse than originally reported. Ontario youth deserve better than a Premier who tells them to simply “look harder”.

Children with special needs are being denied services in #OntEd because Doug Ford has cut education funing and refuses to update the aprcial education funding model to reflect current needs. Kids are suffering.

We can learn a lot from how Japan nurtures its children thru good food at school.
For too long Canadians have been eating unhealthy americanzied "food".
We as a country really need to change they way we educate our young people about healthy eating.
A healthy population costs less $$

Yes. We are so far gone that any diversion from the course will now be severely punished, because the cognitive dissonance is simply too much for people to handle.

Teacher here. I have seen significant learning and attention/focus needs, along with self-regulation needs and impulsivity in the classroom. Also an increase in speech-language delays and fine motor delays. I’ve also seen a decrease in the ability of many staff to learn and retain new information.

I don’t know who needs to read this tonight… but please be gentle with yourself.

Keep going.
Nurture yourself like you would anybody else going through something this hard.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating today.

Sending extra love to those who are encountering their first holiday without a loved one.

Grief is all of that love with nowhere to go… and it hurts.

Be gentle with yourself today. Feel what you need to feel.

Yes, and the number of people screaming that they don’t want their tax dollars paying for other people’s kids to eat is astounding. I honestly thought that feeding hungry children would be something that everyone could agree on.

Children who are fed are children who can focus and learn in school.

Children who are fed are children who can grow up to one day care for others in their communities.

One day all of us will need someone to care for us.

Feed the children.

“The solution isn’t cutting trustees,” she says. “It’s properly funding schools so they don’t have to keep making cutbacks to balance the budget. Every year it’s cuts, cuts, cuts — when what we need is investment.”

Just finished watching “Famous Last Words: Dr. Jane Goodall” on Netflix.

Such a strong, intelligent advocate and activist… she led with gentleness, optimism, and hope.

What a gift for her to be able to leave this final message for the world.

I am cautiously optimistic about the National School Food program announcement.

Our existing program of ten cents per day to feed school children in Ontario has not adequately fed my starving students.

With unemployment rates climbing, we need this more than ever.
