Caity Weaver journeyed across New England and to Fort Ticonderoga to understand what a world of period-correct clothes, muskets, and an obsessive commitment to historical accuracy can teach everyday Americans.

Here’s a typical bundle of file papers from the Boston Municipal Court archives. It probably hasn’t been unwrapped since it was docketed in 1822. The organization of the sub-layers is significant, & I always photograph bundles so that I can put them back together as I found them. I love this work! 🗃️

I used to write fiction a lot when I was younger. I stopped for a long time because of imposter syndrome and lack of motivation. I recently wrote two short horror fiction stories in the last two weeks, and I feel on fire! Rereading @stephenking.bsky.social’s ON WRITING helped me out of the hole.

I like to describe it as boiled chicken music with little to no seasoning.

One of the biggest advocates for political and environmental change, Greta Thunberg, is detained, mistreated, and illegally so.

It is a problem when detention is caused because she put her life on the line for the Flotilla and humanitarianism.

"It’s not the journalists’ burden to keep the government’s secrets for it," @seth-stern.bsky.social told @columjournreview.bsky.social. "That is the opposite of the press’s job, which is to tell the public what the government doesn’t want the public told."

Don’t believe anyone who tells you that intelligence shows anything “without a doubt,” but even if the intelligence was water-tight, this strike was still murder. No law permits the deliberate, premeditated killing of civilians.

My dog passed away last week and it is hard to believe she is still gone. She was only three years old.

We named her Willow because like the tree, the sad nature of her deformities never outshined her beauty and grace.

Today in history, 1960: Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy meet for a televised presidential debate. This marked the first time two presidential candidates debated on television and demonstrated the power of television in swaying public opinion.

"He" has done bad things.

Twenty seven bad things.

How bad were they?

They were so bad that they justified severing all ties with his country. And now, the airing of the grievances. #sschat

I’ve been rereading Lord of the Rings, and there is a lot of comfort in the “medievalism” of the story. A place so fundamentally our own it feels different.

For a multi-billion dollar company, Amazon Prime (streaming) has one of the worst user interfaces I’ve ever seen. It’s still stuck in 2010.
