That said, Silksong's world? Blows HK out of the water. I forgave Bilewater and vowed to kill whoever was up at the top of the Citadel as soon as I learned why it's like that. (And also I think feeling a developer's gleeful malice through design is really funny even if it is a pain in the ass 😂)

For sure. At their hearts they're both 'hey do you want to find out in slow motion how deeply, incredibly haunted this kingdom is' stories but the why/what happened in HK definitely has the edge over SS.

Much like Nier vs Automata, I think Hollow Knight tells a more compelling story but Silksong is a constructed top to bottom with so many things that appeal to my personal tastes that it's the one I'm going to end up playing multiple times.

Beating Hollow Knight because I love bugs, platforming, and exploration was one thing, beating Silksong because I love bugs, platforming, and exploration feels like Team Cherry put out a bed of nails to prove my devotion on and I finished the crossing bloody and euphoric.
