HAPPENING NOW: Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is released as supporters chant “Power to the People!” (Video: @spydermonkeywatch.bsky.social)

Who gave the order to arrest Ras Baraka while he was on public property complying with an officers order?

And who was the officer who shoved the Congresswoman?

We need names.
Please watch THIS particular interview, shared by @prisonculture.bsky.social to get the play by play on what happened. Getting arrested for protesting is a king move, but that's not what happened here. This was a goddamned grab and sack.

ICE opened their detention center in Newark WITHOUT permission from the city, and in violation of state law.

Mayor Ras Baraka has been fighting to close it down.

RT this to THANK Mayor Baraka!

Everyone keeps saying that they can't say what they hope happens to the ICE agents who are doing this but I can - they're clearly engaged in gross violations of the law and I want every Democratic candidate from here to infinity to pledge to help prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law
So demand his release and get to NJ, federal immigration just arrested a government official in his own city. This is beyond unacceptable and this is beyond polite worded social media posts
NJ has been in the streets against this facility for weeks now

New from me at Cato: with yesterday's developments in the Abrego Garcia case, it becomes clear that Donald Trump aims to create an offshore zone in which persons of his choosing can be whisked out of the U.S. and stripped of all constitutional rights, "beyond the writ of" the federal courts. /1
"Where the Writ of the Courts Does Not Run"
The latest developments in the Abrego Garcia case make clear that President Trump, acting in conjunction with El Salvador’s strongman Nayib Bukele, is erecting a special zone for detainees in which fe...

Judge Xinis notes that the plaintiff has asked for additional relief -- discovery, request his return, etc.

Plaintiff's counsel says SCOTUS ruled that the gov must facilitate his release from custody in El Salvador. But there's no evidence of anything govt has done to facilitate his return.

HAPPENING NOW: At the federal courthouse in Greenbelt, Maryland, Judge Paula Xinis is set to begin a hearing on the government’s efforts – or lack thereof – to “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident who was wrongly removed to El Salvador.

Bukele has already returned migrants to the U.S. because they were from Central America or they were women—migrants the Trump admin had unilaterally declared as “criminals.”

This is all a joke to them. It’s truly sick.
Great idea. That's why we'll be in the streets demanding the indictment and conviction of trump by Congress and removal of the president. That's jury. Promising support to those who do their jobs. That's jury. Protest and occupation is not just public bitching. Our actions have meaning. Do yours?
So instead you sit on social media and undermine those who are acting by complaining it's not enough? How is that productive? None of us are skilled in this, that's no excuse. Join up and do something anyway, not enough is significantly better than absolutely nothing. Complaining is not action
We're all for it, but the legal momentum isn't there. If Trump is impeached and damaging information comes out in the trial, Vance may be able to be as well, but at the moment Vance hasn't done anything legally impeachable besides be a reprehensible shit stain. All actions have been Trump's so far
Stop saying "we need to do something" and actually do something

Sitting on social media demanding action does not absolve your responsibility to act as well.

If you can type, you can share content. You can post flyers. You can call reps. You can donate. You can act too. Join up. Do something.
Sure sounds great. This country is struggling to get turnout to a one day weekend protest. When you get enough turnout to make a difference like a national strike or a different style of occupation, you let us know, we will be in DC already and waiting.
Perhaps they won't, in which case what do you suggest?

When he says “home-growns”, he’s talking about US citizens. He wants Bukeke to build more torture prisons in El Salvador for Americans. Not me saying it, Trump saying it. bsky.app/profile/atru...
