the blessed early days of dvd special features, these king of the hill dvds have commentaries with the *characters* peggy, bobby, and luanne, and they are the most wholesome hilarious artifacts. najimy is a genius.

If you’ve never seen #DianeKeaton in SHOOT THE MOON, you’re missing out. An absolutely powerhouse performance that hits an astonishing range of notes. I promise, you’ll think of her every single time you hear “If I Fell.”

She was capable of profound dramatic complexities. Her face in this scene from SHOOT THE MOON is bearing the weight of an entire lifetime for her character. There's regret, there's wonder, there's wistfulness. Diane Keaton 💔

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

It'll never be lost on me that a particular subset of the liberal commentariat in both North America and Western Europe were deeply infatuated with this woman up until the very moment she decided to talk about that one issue you're still basically not allowed to talk about lol.

inception is some of leo's least interesting work by a mile but he hits a sweet spot whenever it feels like he's doing a dry run for shutter island
feminaridens.bsky.social
wth, i'm a mess by the end of it
feminaridens.bsky.social
inception really is about how leo is the most selfish & irresponsible character holy shit. a ton of lost potential with its most interesting thread but at least it's there
feminaridens.bsky.social
oooooh this gets a lot more interesting once you realize leo has lost his mind
