The company that's been right-wing this whole time and was created by one of the people who now stands to benefit from propaganda ... did the thing they've been doing all along ... and we're surprised?

At the request of the U.S. Department of Justice, a Facebook group used by nearly 80,000 people to report sightings of federal immigration agents in the Chicago area has been taken down by the social media giant Meta, Facebook’s parent company.

Watching people being brutalized by the state, secure in the knowledge that I'm safe because I don't do anything wrong. And the best part? The state can't suddenly and arbitrarily redefine what "wrong" means

Help, I got onto realty sites and I'm looking at old buildings/churches and wondering how hard it would really be to buy one up and convert it into communal living.

Please be conscious if you protest this weekend that there are feds at the protest. They look like you and they sound like you, not like Steve Buscemi in that one clip with the skateboard. Thinking you can spot them is self delusion. Nobody you haven’t met needs to know your last name.

Yup. As the news as spread that I'm getting rid of print titles, I hear folks saying, "I didn't know we had those!"

Yeah, obviously. And now you don't have them anymore.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!

The University of Texas-Austin is beginning a process to eliminate the Black Studies, Latino Studies, and Gender Studies departments in the College of Liberal Arts. This is a grave threat to the educational liberty of students, faculty, staff, and the people of Texas. 1/

Very bad: OSU unilaterally cancelled the registration of grad students attending the joint conference of the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists. And OSU won't fund recruiting at the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.
Ohio State changes policy on group conferences after Trump administration threats

few ideas have damaged the average psyche more than ‘the customer is always right.’ it should be a little bit humiliating, being a customer. you should walk into any service transaction knowing that the other person, and not you, is in control over whether you get your treats

Someone put me on a list called "Star Wars opinions" and I'm confused.

Like, yeah, I've got opinions, but they're hardly coherent and who the fuck is listening to me of all people?

Hey Colorado residents, particularly people in Fort Collins, but also those who are somewhat near: my sister and brother in law are running a study on an easy, portable method to help maintain indoor air quality during adverse outside events (like smoke or pollution).

Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."
