“Control was handed to Greenwich in the 1980s”

I’m not saying that everything wrong in this country is because of Thatcher but it happens more than you’d think.

Campaigners have launched a petition calling for control of the Greenwich Foot Tunnel to be transferred from Greenwich Council to Transport for London.

The tunnel was originally run by London-wide government, but control was handed to Greenwich in the 1980s.

You might have heard of 'dark kitchens' when a row of sheds in a car park churn out food for Deliveroo. They're unpopular and low margin. So the next big thing in London food is 'host kitchens' where local pubs, restaurants and kebab shops cook for big brands. www.londoncentric.media/p/host-kitch...
Why your next upmarket Deliveroo might be made by your local kebab shop

Plans for a 25-storey tower across the road from Abbey Wood station have been approved by City Hall, three months after Bexley Council threw out the project.

Bexley had said the block would be too tall and would affect views from Lesnes Abbey.

Greenwich Council has ruled out using Woolwich’s historic barracks building as a new home for the borough archives once the army moves out in 2028.

Up to 1,920 homes could be built – including converting the Grade II*-listed main building into housing.

Building new homes is no bad thing, but there also needs to be some actual commitment to improving and maintaining things at street level here. What could be a vibrant community space by a major train station is grotty, neglected and depressing.

Somewhat ironic that given the ‘plans for a rooftop bar at the library were cut to save money’ that Rooff Construction are being used to do the work.

Sounds like the solution is to extend the LTN into Charlton.

(Frankly, the fundamental problem here is not LTNs, it’s that the average driver is a selfish entitled prick who’ll do anything they can to avoid the rules applying to them.)

Would be criminal to lose this asset. It needs to be managed as a community equestrian centre for Greenwich and nearby Bexley boroughs.

Greenwich Council has agreed to meet campaigners who want to save the borough’s Olympic legacy equestrian centre from development.

The “ray of light” came after Greenwich refused permission for the site to be designated an asset of community value.
