Remember, in totalitarian states, among the first people to be silenced are the artists, the poets, the writers. There's a reason for that.

Be that reason.

If you do art, keep doing art. Do it with as much passion as you can muster. Express yourself.
This is your reminder that writing is a political action.
I knew it was going to be bad, this administration, but damn.
Make America Safe for Dimpled White Chins.
I made an image of all the art posted by US DOL on X since approximately Labor Day
Yesterday was St. Crispin's Day. I outlived the day and came safe home, but neglected to stand a tip-toe. Nor did I do any feats. So I guess I'm not one of the happy few, the band of brothers. Even so, I don't think myself accursed.

Good speech, though.
Got to say, though, those things DO look like fun.
The GRD4 is outdated, but still an exceptional pocketable camera that's much better than anybody could expect from a 14-year-old camera. I keep meaning to pick one up.
The throttle is incredibly useful when you're carrying a heavy load and you've had to come to a full stop--especially if you've had to stop on a hill. The throttle gets you up to speed in just moments, then you can pedal naturally again.
Platner may have sincerely changed his views. Fine, prove it in the Maine state legislature, NOT with a 6-year term as Senator.

In the meantime, Janet Mills is old, but when Trump publicly threatened to cut off federal aid unless she caved to his anti-trans agenda, she said, "See you in court."
Establishment Democrats spent a full year complaining the Left forced them to be “woke.”

But then a left populist, Graham Platner, threatened to win in Maine, so they went right back to trying to cancel someone over old internet posts.

"Whenever I hear 'culture'...I remove the safety from my Browning." Hanns Johst, Nazi playwright.
Stephen Miller: "The scandal is how Democrats & the left scarred the landscape of our country w/grotesque so-called modern art that celebrates ugliness ... very importantly, President Trump is making sure it's in the neo-classical design around which our nation's architecture has long been directed"
The Fuckwit Collective strikes again.
A civil attorney who Trump enthusiast Lindsey Halligan brought in to prosecute the Letitia James case screwed up his initial appearance and the court had to give him step-by-step instructions about how to save a PDF.
It needs to be said that it's MAGA who "legalized and tolerated Trump’s crimes". MAGA in the form of Congress & SCOTUS.
A president who can tear down 1/3 of the White House can tear down the entire White House. A president who can steal $230M from the treasury can steal $1T from the Treasury. We have both legalized and tolerated Trump’s crimes, so they will only get bigger.
I didn't stand up and cheer, but I did stomp my feet.
The time spent with Shirley and Claude was my favorite part of Bad Actors.
Jesus suffering fuck...
Trump: "I don't think we're necessarily going to ask for a declaration of war, I think we're just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country. We're going to kill them. They're going to be, like dead."
I used to write short essays about photographers for a Flickr group called Utata. It occurs to me that some Bsky #photography folks might enjoy them. If so, I'll post them occasionally

This is about Jason Eskanazi from 2012.

I rather like dorky-looking bikes. But placing the headlamp in a spot that will be blocked by a front rack is pretty short-sighted (so to speak).
My knee injuries prevented me from cycling for a couple years. Then, 5 years ago, with the hope of being able to cycle with minimal knee pain, I bought my first ebike. Now I regularly do 30-40 mile rides.
