Hi new people! Nice to meet you.

I am a Detroit area urban planner, transit advocate, and historic preservation professional.

#1 fangirl of the Open Meetings Act.

Come for the local government commentary, stay for the everything else (It’s mostly everything else.)

I feel like people try like two spots and don’t branch out in Dbo, and they don’t realize how much different stuff there is

That is a good point, I’ve walked around there to play Pokémon (lol) but I haven’t actually tried going in.

Now that I have mobility issues it’s probably easier to try ILL first as well, less schlepping for me. Thank you!!

Oh man, the telltale Land Reutilization Authority stencil on the door.

Like oh the LRA owns this especially neglected thing? You don’t say?!?

I think so, I need to check. I haven’t done it in a looong time as a patron and it was also a huge rarity when I worked at our tiny library here.

There’s also something called Michicard that lets you use your card a lot of places around the state, but I don’t know how it works

👀👀

This reminds me I was gonna try to figure out the steps to use my library card at a nearby university. I think there’s a way to do it but it’s just annoying, and there’s a $300 book I would like to read that they have

The National Museum in Oslo has a *public library attached* so you can check out really expensive art books after seeing the exhibitions. Plus any other ridiculously expensive coffee table art books you might be interested in 🤯

Makes me flash back to earlier this season at the E Warren Farmers Market when I was telling a farmer my tomatoes just wouldn’t ripen this year.

She said hers were the same, “Like hard little green marbles.”
grenadine.bsky.social
Some of the little tomatoes we grew this year are hard enough they’re kind of uncomfortable to eat?

I have a jaw disorder but tomatoes are usually fine for me!
grenadine.bsky.social
That would have been nice!

She gradually went from “Go Tigers!” to a shivering “Someone hit the ball!”

We kept offering to leave but she insisted on seeing the end.

We thawed her out with pie in Lafayette Coney Island afterwards.

I went to a Tigers game once that went 13 innings.

I remember it because it was cold out and my friend who had just moved here from Texas was not having a good time with it.

She did wear her winter coat but they only have winter coats for beginners in Texas

I came downstairs to watch the end of the game with my bf, and have ended up watching pretty much an entire game’s worth of baseball
grenadine.bsky.social
Sorry guys. Every time the Tigers fuck up I root for another inning. I’m the one doing it

I always think of the time a Pistons game crowd booed him but cheered for Eminem

I took a storytelling workshop, and one of my classmates was working on honing his story of the time he went to a party honoring Kid Rock, and Kid Rock attempted to fight one of his own fans at a party in his own honor.

The party was in *Clarkston* btw

My bf did have the audio of the game on in the car!

It’s really funny to pretend to be afraid of hair dye and facial piercings when you also pretend to be from Detroit

Kid Rock: Do you know what is stupid… these chicks running around on campuses with blue hair, five nose rings.

Masks required cheap used bookstore with cats + combination taco and hibachi truck that is fully halal = an evening of uniquely Detroit delights

I feel like I could’ve staged this better and shown you how beautifully grilled the burrito was, but man I could smell it and I was ready to EAT
grenadine.bsky.social
We finally tried a food truck I’ve been wanting to try for like a year and a half, Tacobachi’s.

I had seen a video of a man opening this hibachi burrito and saying “Shit!” with such reverent surprise that his voice cracked.

Finally tried the burrito from the video. It really is that good.
Photo of my hand holding a steak hibachi burrito to show the steak, rice, cheese, and veggies inside. There are chips and salsa on the side.
