A friend just rode it today, it's real. I saw the media releases, but wanted to verify the service actually existed before amplifying the coverage as their online presence does not inspire much confidence.

No tracking or new signage as of now. Will keep an eye out for updates.

So... surprise, tunnel service is back and in regular operation starting today. A private operator picked up the route. Fare is $15 each way, cash or credit – see website for timetables.

You know what's best about this? Now that we have multi-year, seemingly stable support for our existing transit with no reliance on rescue funds, our Appropriations subcommittees can finally stop focusing on crisis aversion and start planning for real investment. I'm excited for next year.

Considering inflation and rising operational costs, $270M does essentially mean Michigan transit providers are "held harmless" by this budget. That said, most were bracing for a potential funding cut, so stability is very welcome news 🚌

Okay, sustained local bus ops for FY25-26 exceeding not just last year but even the record FY23-24 numbers, *and with no ARPA dollars,* was not on my budget bingo card. $271.6 million!

I'll have to pop the hood on this "Transportation Funding Package" and see what's in there
