I am side-eying one of the Elder God's names.

And given that it's Lovecraft, I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt.

(Named it after his cat, did he?)

Both the Rusty Quill Big Bang and the 10 Items or Less rarepairs exchange go live on October 26th. Big day for fan fiction.

(I've already received my 10 Items or Less gift. It's sitting Unrevealed in my Gift section, taunting me. I wants it!!)

TEN POSSIBLE EXPLANATIONS FOR WHY THE NOBEL COMMITTEE REJECTED DONALD TRUMP FOR THIS YEAR’S NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

10. They probably had no idea he wanted one

9. For a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas to truly be considered Nobel-worthy, it must last longer than 45 seconds

Worth a friendly reminder that the next set of nation-wide No Kings protests are set for October 18th.

There's probably one in your area.

I am not generally a crowds or protests sort of person, but there's one in my town and I'll be at it on the 18th.

No Kings
As the president escalates his authoritarian power grab, the NO KINGS non-violent movement continues to rise stronger. We are united once again to remind the world: America has No Kings and the power ...

Colon cancer is easiest to treat when it's caught early, but the best way to catch it early is with regular screenings.

If you have a family history, there is a gene test you can take to provide insight for how at risk you are.

PSA: You should start getting colonoscopies at age 45 UNLESS you have a family of colon cancer. In that case, get your first colonoscopy 10 years before your family member's diagnosis.

In other writing plans, I want to get my #Malevolent femslash+ event fic roughed out next week before the new Pokemon game comes out. And then I've got a Georgie/Celia sickfic I intend to write while prepping for an upcoming medical procedure.

I believe I have 5 November event fics: 1 for The Locked Tomb dark fic event, 3 for Poly Ship Week, and 1 for Wanksgiving. I think the Wanksgiving fic is as long as the others combined!

Got my Rusty Quill Big Bang uploaded in AO3 as a draft. Once the art is embedded in it, I'll also want to get it drafted up on Sunset, too. It'll post at the end of October.

This weekend, I want to get my Halloween fic up in AO3 as a draft.

And then I can start editing my November event fics.

I'm going to write more Georgie/Celia for Sheeple Chase, with hopes to post it on Saturday. Also getting post this weekend?

The first two chapters of my Silt Verses big bang, the last chapter of my last Fandom Trumps Hate fic (woot woot!), and the ficlets I've been writing on Blorbo for Fan Prompt.

Finished the rough draft of Chapter 12 of "Around and Around". That means I'm 25% of the way through the rough draft! Woot woot!

two panels drawn with a black fountain pen with some orange accents. the first one depicts a girl with red braided hair. behind her, there's a forest. in the foreground, there's a dark silhouette of a big stag. the girl says "hail, spirit". in the second panel, the girl and the stag stand face to face, the stag's antlers are amber. he says: hail, witch

Absolutely thrilled to share the cover to next year's short story collection coming out from @tordotcom.bsky.social! I'm obsessed with it!

Comes out March 24, 2026, but you can pre-order it now wherever you like getting your books! Here's Macmillan's link.

On a gradient background that goes from blush-pink at the top to a muddy green at the bottom, a book cover. Super-imposed on a pastoral, oil-painting style image depicting a forested foreground and a hilly background beneath a soft champagne sky, is superimposed a 3-dimensional rhomboid-shape, the facets of which play with space. One facet shows a pale cloudy sky, and from it, a brown hare emerges chasing the hind legs and bushy tail of a wolf, the rest of which vanishes out of the rhomboid frame. The rhomboid's other facets -- which create the kind of infinity loop of an Escher painting -- are either blush-pink or covered in the greenery from the background. Above the rhomboid is the title, and the subtitle "Stories"; below it are the words New York Times Bestselling & Award-winning Author Amal El-Mohtar. My name and the word "Stories" are in the same blush-pink as the rhomboid's facets.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."
