And its normalized both by CMs and game brands!! Its so weird to me!! I get that maybe being a CM of a game is the first platform many CMs find themselves with, but its SO irresponsible of game brands to lean on their employee's personal lives during times of turbulent game issues.

A CM is for running official social channels. The weird practice of CMs addressing things from their own personal Twitter account is such a gross overstep of an individual employee's digital space and makes ZERO sense to me.

There's something thats been bothering me - What's up with the video game industry using personal social media profiles of CMs to address hot button issues?
Like for real, how does that make any sense? Why should you follow the personal account of a CM to see a "We see your feedback guys" post?

When I explain to people that the culture of Community Management/fan interactions with staff in video games has changed drastically in the last 10 years (particularly around the beginning of the pandemic), its this kind of bs im talking about

As well as this, I feel quite strongly that the increased prominence in recent years of social media influencers who engage in nothing but ragebait content and harassment has proverbially sucked all the air out of the room, content mills producing bullshit at speed who dominate gaming conversations.

1. The gaming press has been decimated by business suits, and the whims of an uncaring search engine behemoth
2. Doing the job means you get death threats and harassment
3. There are more games released in 1 week than there were in entire months in 2015

I dont think its really an either/or thing- i think they can have Pikmin for babies and still make the main series on console if that makes sense. The kids who'd grow up with Pikmin as an eraly childhood brand would probably grow up to love the main games even more.

There's def a strong argument to be made that the Switch 2 is far from accessible for low income families and kids old enough to save money and buy their own, but for what I'm describing, preschool age kids dont buy media/games its their parents that do so.
