happy birthday to my queer regency rom-com I Shall Never Fall in Love!!!! overwhelmed by how many people have read and enjoyed it in the last year tbh. THANK YOU to everyone who's read, supported, and/or said nice things, it really means the world #books
Photo of me holding the UK version of I Shall Never Fall in Love surrounded by yellow flowers on a sunny day Comic panels from I shall never fall in love. A drawing of a girl in a garden clasping another's hands and saying 'you have excellent marriage prospects'. The next panel zooms out so we can see the rose arch looks like a wedding arch, and the other replies, 'I do?' Comic panels from I shall never fall in love. Two young white people in regency dress dancing very close outside a window, one in an evening dress and the other in a more traditionally masc jacket Comic panel from I shall never fall in love. A drawing of (the same) two people in skirts sitting in a window seat of a fancy room looking towards two girls by the piano. One says 'do you think her more accomplished than me?' and the other replies 'Well.'

In honor of National Poetry Day, the greatest parody rewrite of all time:
Screen cap of parodic version of William Blake's "The Tyger" that begins:
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
(Not sure if I spelled that right)
What immortal hand or eye
Could fashion such a stripy guy?
What the hammer that hath hewn it
Into such a chonky unit?
Did who made the lamb make thee,
Or an external franchisee?

Give folks their flowers

No, I mean right now. Go tell someone you loved their work right now. They're on social media just say it, it has never been easier

"They know how much people love--" no they don't go say it right now to a composer or artist or game dev or writer or anyone AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

I recommend this book full heartedly. A deeply charming and clever take on Emma while thoughtfully exploring queerness and privilege. I don't say this lightly but it's full of heart. It was dear friend during a very stressful plane ride.

and an illustration of 3 characters surrounded by an orange autumnal tree and graves. One character is a cat clown doll floating above the right shoulder of a large buff man with a beard and overalls, then floating over the man's other shoulder is a slightly transparent cowboy with green hair and heavy scars.

I missed the #FatTRewind #art tag but I loved scrolling through and wanted to add to it with a couple more Hieron things from back when it was coming out
an old comic of Lem and Emmanuel from friends at the table.
Emmanuel: Lem, you came to a baker to ask about a cursed sword hilt?
Lem: (leaning in) well, you're a ghost, and I like you very much
Emmanuel: (putting a hand over Lem's, TENDERLY) if you want to spend time with me, you just come see me
(Lem looks down...)
Lem: Can you also please check out this cursed sword I drew this 6 years ago but to my memory, this is a drawing of Samol sitting on the roof of a new orleans-looking illuminated house as a water reflecting the stars engulfs it. Below the wave, Hadrian looks up at a strange-perspective walled town on a hill inside Aubade

even when I'm not writing about being very disabled, I usually realise I'm writing about being very disabled

(development drawing process & thinking for my book that just came out, Night at the Vampire Castle) #art #books
purple-coloured roughs for a drawing of a figure sat in a cluttered room purple-coloured lineart and shading for the same drawing the final drawing: a pale character with a knife sat in a room full of skulls and victorian-looking animal specimens, all shaded in purple screenshot from patreon reads "Metaphorical death

One thing that interests me about vampires is characters going through a huge change and having to adapt to that world after. (A lot of people with severe forms of my illness describe it as feeling like they've died or are now ghosts in their own lives, and maybe that's why it feels significant to me.)

This character has a realisation that the world is changing and something they've been striving for is destined not to succeed. After that, they end up isolating and almost entombing themself, collecting the bones of every creature they've killed by mistake, and wanting to commemorate them in some way. I wanted to try to capture this sense of the character both finding comfort in the macabre, but also they've sort of made a home in their own melancholy and guilt. They're unable to move forwards, reminding themself over and over of what they've done wrong."

Miyazaki survived the bombing of Utsunomiya as a child. His family escaped in a car, but left a neighbor and her daughter behind to save themselves. Miyazaki regrets this, and said this has stayed with him and shaped his film making. He hopes his audience will learn the courage he lacked in 1945.

#Objectober 2: Key! I have drawn several keys today.
pencil sketches of several figuines with attached keys. one, labelled 3, is a very tall figure with no arms, a long neck and small head, covered in nails with keys hung on them, and loops of rope with keys attached. the other figures are smaller figurines, each not much larger than the key they hold. they are labells 4a-4f.
3. A plague-marker from the streets of the Charnel Quarter, Iull City.
These ominous figures, some standing over a storey tall, were set to guard
areas of the city which had been struck by plague. Charnel-coroners would
take the keys to houses struck by the plague, after locking the building up
securely, and fix them to the plague-marker. The house woud then be
regarded as a tomb, and could not be disturbed or entered.
Look up at the tall plague-marker and its hundreds of keys. Could it fit
through your front door?

4. Various key-guardians associated with burial hoards of the Vellum Age.
These small figurines all have keys attached to them, and were beleived to
act as protectors of the treasures interred with the body. Though several of
the keys fit kists or reliquaries found nearby in the tomb, some have no
evident lock, and are beleived to have a more symbolic purpose, protecting
the riches buried alongside the deceased, as well as more generally protecting
the soul of the deceased themself. They were usually situated very close to the
body, often clasped in the hand.
What precious thing do you think these creatures are guarding? What
would you lock away?

aaah incredible, I'm so excited!!
