I fully illustrated the background separate from the ghosts, so I could get the transclucent effect I wanted. Since I went to the effort I figured it was worth showing off on its own, a long with a couple of closeups.

Prints will be available later this month :)
The previously described illustration but with the ghosts removed to fully show the background. A path winds off into a dark tunnel of trees. Among the tomb stones we see a Celtic cross, and one with a cherub carving. Far back is a statue of an angel with its arm raised. The colour palette is muted creams with dusky purples, blues and greys. A zoomed in detail view of the background. A zoomed in detail view of the ghosts.

Hanuman's tail is a flaming circle that frames the figures, which dev patel graps. There's flame, blood, fleshy vomit. the busts of two figures, one looks in pain, as they're having their vocal cords yanked from a hole in their throat by the other, who clutches them in a bunch with their furthest hand. With their other hand they concentratedly use a stringed instrument bow on the vocal cords. A rainbow bridges the heads, and is dotted with fantastical music notation. Their busts rest above a small basin. a dark starry background, and a blue room where a bed sit next to windows looking out to the night sky. Psyche lies naked on a patterned bedframe amongst plants, her white hair arching around to the foot of the bed. She looks in wonder at Cupid - who is illuminated by the three candles she holds up. Cupid appears as a fleshy mass, strung within a halo, from which arrows eminate haphazardly.
