Fork this! I quit! Find out why Jill and I left the FBI in the first episode of our new podcast @forkingoff.com

New episodes drop every Monday.
How the fork did we get here? In this episode, Jill and I discuss how morals and ethics were pushed to the limit by changes in the new administration. We'll be releasing new episodes every Monday.

How the Fork Did We Get Here?
We took the government's deferred resignation because our morals and our ethics were being pushed to the limit...

And clueless outsiders have been defending 20 year old "kids" with "boys will be boys" tropes for equally as long.

Maybe, and I know this probably comes as a surprise, but go with me on this...

Kash Patel is just a fuck up who should stay out of cases and off of social media. Just an alternative
A lot of folks on r/fednews are worried about not getting a paycheck before Thanksgiving because of the shutdown. Frankly, with this kind of discourse there's a non-zero chance they'll never see another federal paycheck. Sadly, that's not hyperbole.

Trump says government shutdown ends when Democrats give in: "If they don't vote, that's their problem"
President Trump offered no plan for health care costs, which has been a sticking point in ending a government shutdown, and says it will end when Democrats give in.

This seems like a problem for the MIT Sloan Wine Club to solve, possibly with some orange juice.
Just convinced my wife we need to watch the 60 Minutes interview for the same reason we used to have to watch ISIS propaganda at the FBI.

She begrudgingly agreed.

Then we closed the curtains for the same reason security researchers don't watch terrorist propaganda in public.

Same 💩. Different 🏴
Apparently, Ed Martin.
In most years, scary Halloween stories involve pumpkins and headless horsemen. This year we're preparing to plunge the South American continent (and possibly the entire hemisphere) into an endless war.

The consequences of this action will echo for decades to come.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported us.

And a special thank you to Illinois elected officials — including many of my opponents — who have condemned this political prosecution by the Trump administration:

"moving marginalized people to government camps, they say, is an idea with a long and shameful history." You think???
New euphemism alert: It’s not a detention camp, it’s a Mandatory Services Campus

2008 Millennials looking at Gen Z basically.
To be clear: I'm all for "Away for the day," but we need to make sure we're not justifying illegal actions pushed by commercial product vendors based on emotion and misapplication of scientific research.
I'm not sure which is more problematic: the idea of a child having to run across campus to unlock their phone case in an emergency, or the idea of violating an entire school's 4th amendment rights to require their endangerment prior to the emergency.
It doesn't even appear to meet the requirements of section 48901.7(b)(1) of the California Education Code (which AB 3216 left intact):

"A pupil shall not be prohibited from possessing or using a smartphone in the case of an emergency, or in response to a perceived threat of danger."
For those unaware, Yondr pouches are a commercial product sold in mass to schools right now to enforce "Away for the day" phone policies. Schools mandate students to lock their phones in these pouches, which requires them to go to a designated station near an exit to unlock at the end of the day.
At a Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) meeting, two middle school principles stated they will require all students to submit to a search of their backpack everyday to prove they've complied with a new Yondr pouch requirement.

@aclusocal.bsky.social Is this reasonable suspicion?

Let's be clear. The shutdown won't end until a deal is made with House & Senate leaders. The House needs to be in session for that. If the House in session, Johnson will have to swear in Grijalva. Which will approve the release of the Epstein files.
So we are shut down because of the Epstein files.

This isn't a "them" problem. It's an US problem.
The House isn't in session because the Speaker doesn't want a vote on the Epstein files.

The President isn't on the continent.

Meanwhile, unpaid essential workers are keeping you safe.

America can't ignore this forever.

How much irreparable damage will we cause before we wake up?
