"Can I get a name for your order?"
"Let's name it, The Battle of Mactan, to honor the indigenous forces of Lapulapu, rising up against the Spanish-led expedition of Portuguese--"
"I can't fit all that on the Starbucks cup..."
"--in some ways the first successful resistance to colonization..."
"I was an alt-right white nationalist cartoon frog meme. Now, I regret all my choices." -Editorial, Pepe the Frog
I would like to see the defending attorney show up to court arguing 1st amendment defense here, while dressed as a dick.
Well, you can finally cross “I’ve seen a handcuffed, inflatable penis” off your bucket list
Y'all claim to be against kings and yet where were the marches against tyranny when Biden forgave a small fraction of student debt using express statutory authorization, amirite?
The overton window has shifted so far to the right that the left's radical demands are for things like not having a king, not protecting pedophiles, etc.
It's a happy day, so I apologize for a downer thought. But this image fills me with grief. Like, I wasn't prepared for the services being open-casket.
Giant copy of the Constitution being carried down Pennsylvania Avenue.
If you survive having your ship blown up, you're free to go.
Fair enough. But this frog with a cape sure looks like a superhero coming to rescue.
Anybody got a good block list of the bots going?
Crazy part is Times cracking top 100. You in top 5 makes sense though.
Honorable mention, "Is that abyss staring at me?"
Prior to posting this, I considered variations of "When you pee into the abyss..."
That one episode of Mythbusters where they revealed there are no downsides to staring into the abyss.
There are basically only two positions in the debate about getting pooped on by a bird.
1. This sucks. Fuck that bird.
2. This is a transformative experience, an edifice upon which we should rest the global economy, no matter the damage to the environment, society, and even truth itself.
There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI.
1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks.
2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.

Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.
Another thing is, the whole "there are only sides" happens to not be true for AI. I count myself among the lonely view that it's an interesting tool, with interesting use cases, but is also very much overhyped and clearly in a bubble.
Herzog's "Iceberg":
The Iceberg is the slow clock of the dark ocean, without malice, a silent truth in the path of a fragile, metal dream. It remains, unmarked, indifferent, waiting for the sun, having only registered a brief, loud flutter of human folly before the deep swallowed it whole.
Maybe a version from the Iceberg's POV.
There's a non-alien version?
Who among us has honestly never directed a film called Titanic and developed an expertise in submarines. This could literally be anyone.

bsky.app/profile/waff...
Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."
I approve of this personality type.
I signed a memorandum today expanding my powers to include flight and teleportation.
ICE is internet trolls bleeding out into the real world. Anonymous, bigoted, violent, harassing. It's the worst of internet behavior but for city streets.
Analogy:
Teacher: okay for homework, I'd like these students (who are black) to write 20 pages. These (white) students have no homework.
Student: that's racist. Look at the disparate treatment of the students.
Teacher: you want me to count the assignments by race? Sounds like you're the racist.
It's how they dismantled affirmative action, but it's particularly dumb as applied to the VRA, where the constitution specifically envisions enforcement legislation.
