this is where i ended up for the prompt for week 4 & 5 "paint a memory". my least favorite prompt, easy for me to blank on memories i feel like painting. i disliked what i did last week, ended up incorporating bits of what i painted over to capture seeing the northern lights last october:

but i think i understand whats being said. it was still a bit surprising bc during class shes had very little to say to me whereas spending 2-3x longer with most of my other classmates. but im pleased with how it went for everyone overall

the main feedback i got was from my teacher, saying 1) i should be working on bigger canvases (i already got a pack of one size up from what the supplies list said!), & 2) that i should be drawing beforehand so i have more of a specific form (this is a class about abstract & intuitive painting?)

we had our first crit in oil painting class last night! it went well! our teacher encouraged us to be nice, not like a typical art school, and i think everyone felt really good at the end. pretty happy with where im at in the class & id say mine were third best overall, with some of the best colors
