HAMburgers, peanut BUTTER and my new favourite SPARE ribs... it's a daft distraction. But the fact that it's gotten traction this time round is worrying. (It failed a few years ago when common sense prevailed.)

Here's a way to channel your frustration:

Känner du att du vill göra *nagot* för att stödja Ukraina men osäker på vad eller hur? Varsågod!

Nu är det dags att förbereda Ukraina för den stundande vintern! Förra vintern fick vi leverera över 500st små elverk. Låt oss slå det i år!

Swisha på 123 169 24 17 och dela detta för att värma och hjälpa alla dom som snart står med snö upp till knävecken och skyddar din frihet och demokrati!

A word on burnout & feeling strung out because "I can't save all the things that need saving."

Democracy is supposed to be a mosaic and a relay race. We never have to take care of the whole ourselves.

In fact if we do, it kinda stops being democracy.

The UN is a bit like the foundation of an old house. Expensive to maintain and costly to repair but WOW you do not want to break it. So much of our modern world is held together by the invisible work of multilateral diplomacy. I shudder to think what the world would be like without it

Some of y’all forget the reason we have food safety regulations is because companies used to do things like adding chalk to spoiled milk so it looked normal.

Regulations don’t exist because governments enjoy them. They exist because pure unadulterated capitalism would kill us.

One problem with being on Twitter is that Elon Musk constantly rejigs the site to push his views. He cannot be sidelined when he owns the underlying system. His manipulation of the Twitter AI to match his views illustrates this point.

Good news about the cutting-edge AI tools from the $3-trillion-dollar company.
Google AI search result for “was 2010 fifteen years ago?” returning: “No, 2010 was 14 years ago, not 15 years ago. The current year is 2025, and to find the number of years ago 2010 was, you subtract 2010 from 2025, which equals 14.
Current Year: 2025
Past Year: 2010
Years Ago: 2025 - 2010 = 14 years”

Tech oligarchs oppose the idea of any supposedly undeserving person getting financial help from the government in 2025. But they want you to believe they’ll give *everyone* free money in the future.

It doesn’t make any sense, but it’s the techno-utopian lie they will keep selling.

However, intelligent robots in humanoid form will far exceed the population of humans, as every person will want their own personal R2-D2 and C-3РО.
And then there will be many robots in industry for every human to provide products & services.

They did not mince their words! Good for them. And the article does a good job explaining the process and how flimsy the excuse for discarding their work is. Any guidelines now risk being the opposite of transparent.

Because of the incredible work of our nation’s scientists, we have our finger tips on the closest thing humanity has ever come to “a cure for cancer”, but brainworm over here doesn’t believe in it.

A major danger of LLMs is that humans are SO predisposed to attribute knowledge to any entity that uses natural language fluently. We cannot imagine that a machine that outputs natural-seeming speech/text doesn't have cognition. Brilliantly articulated by @emilymbender.bsky.social et al. (2021).
Text generated by an LM is not grounded in communicative intent, any model of the world, or any model of the reader’s state of mind. It can’t have been, because the training data never included sharing thoughts with a listener, nor does the machine have the ability to do that. This can seem counter-intuitive given the increasingly fluent qualities of automatically generated text, but we have to account for the fact that our perception of natural language text, regardless of how it was generated, is mediated by our own linguistic competence and our predisposition to interpret communicative acts as conveying coherent meaning and intent, whether or not they do [89, 140].”
