Photography and bullshit, not necessarily in that order. If you follow me for photography be ready to put up with some bullshit; if you follow me for bullshit good news, you'll also get to see some pretty pictures time to time as a bonus! He/they

It's kind of impressive that The Shane Co did such a good job cultivating such a local-business-core brand marketing identity that people all over the country get the shared experience of incredulously discovering it's not actually a local chain...

Or, as I will always think of it because my dad made the joke while making dinner one time when I was a small child, [to the tune of Talking Heads "Wild Wild Life"] "Wiiiild, wiiild rice"

In honor of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand

I am a huge advocate of non-car-centric cities and while yeah the number one reason is kind of by default the world not burning down the close number two and the more viscerally personal one is the fucking noise, so yeah a car-free event with giant loudspeakers feels real incongruous

Like, there was at least one per meter for that whole section of trail, it actually considerably slowed down the hike because I had to watch my step so carefully! Also saw two big adults on the same hike.

My favorite anuran encounter was a few years ago time I was on a hike in a Pacific coastal forest and saw movement near the trail's edge and on closer look realized it was a tiny toadlet, then after watching a while looked around and saw another, and realized the woods were full of them

Oh wow the way you can see the standing waves when the toad trills is so cool what a shot

Trumpeter swans have chosen the wetlands park down the street from me as a wintering spot the last few years, hope to see them back this year in about a month

Something that really bugs me is this popular narrative that the current anti-vax movement arose whole cloth on the right and is completely separate from more generally left-leaning alt-medicine movements, because noticing the ways they've fed in to each other doesn't fit the political framing

Ugh the facile “intertexuality must always be read the most literal way as saying things are happening in a shared universe” idea is one of my big media literacy pet peeves

Yeah I'm a Seattleite but admittedly at most an M's well-wisher and occasional bandwagoner (I just don't have the attention span to keep up with regular season baseball generally), but I am a die hard fan of M's fans

I feel like it's OK here because their self-awareness is kind of the bit? Like at least for me that way sets it apart from the "no subtext allowed modern audiences can't be trusted to read between the lines" thing

what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

If you'd asked me ten minutes ago if I'd seen Pete's Dragon I'd have said "yes of course" but seeing this makes me doubt it, unless I hard suppressed or lost attention span for this number every time?

Especially because I'll always charitably re-read it two or three times trying to make it fit so not only is it wrong it made me work to be sure it was wrong

So glad I'm not alone in feeling physical pain when someone does a lyric joke that doesn't scan (and not scanning is not the joke)

there are like 5 crises that are all accelerating at once in America now, but a fun game to play is to pick one and say the other four are just the media's way of distracting us from the one you picked
